We have a card with 'University of the State of New York' as a header indicated that she had passed Regent's Examinations in American Literature, New York History, Economics and Advanced Drawing. This suggests Fairfield was a secondary school. Also note that one of the 16 graduates was John William Hine. Is this a coincidence?

      The Town of Root web page, Montgomery Cty GenWeb, lists a Thomas Vanderveer as a farmer in 1869-70. It also lists several other Vanderveers. From the same web pages 'The `Christian' church of Rural Grove was organized in March, 1854, with Elias Yates, Thomas J. Vanderveer, Jacob I. Vanderveer, Henry C. Hamilton, John Dopp and Henry Shibley as trustees.'
