      Zillia Ann Wimberley was born on Sep 5, 1851 at Washington County, Texas. She was the daughter of Pleasant Wimberley and Amanda Jackson. Zillia married Mongomery Right Phillips, son of Benjamin Phillips and Malissa Crownover. Zillia Ann Wimberley died in Mar, 1873 at Blanco County, Texas, at age 21. Zillia was buried at Walnut Methodist Church Cemetery, Round Mountain, Blanco County, Texas.
     

Zillah Ann Wimberley was the second child born to Pleasant Wimberley and Amanda Julian Jackson Wimberley. She was born on September 5, 1851, either in Washington County where her parents lived during the 1850 Census or in Burleson County where her parents participated in the 1860 Census. She was probably named for her maternal grandmother Zillah Ann Thompson Jackson.

In 1860-1861 Zillah's father Pleasant Wimberley moved his young family to the Westbrook area of Blanco County near the Blanco and Llano County line. Zillah would have been 9-10 at the time of the move. It is probably in the Westbrook area that Zillah, or Zilley as her family called her, met and fell in love with Montgomery "Gum" Right Phillips, son of Benjamin Phillips and Malissa Crossover Phillips.

Gum and Zilley were married, probably in 1871 or 1872 and probably in either Blanco or Llano County. She would have been 17-18 years old; Gum would have been 21-22 years old at the time of the marriage. His family lived in Llano County; the Wimberley family lived in Blanco County.

Zillah died a year or two after her marriage at the age of 21. She was buried at what is now called the Walnut Methodist Church Cemetery. Her husband Gum Phillips died two years later on April 19, 1975, and was buried beside her.

      John James Haynes was born on Aug 6, 1843 at Gonzales, Gonzales County, Texas. He was the son of Charles Haynes and Jane Power. John married Mary Melissa Phillips, daughter of Benjamin Phillips and Malissa Crownover, on Feb 22, 1871 at Charles Haynes Ramch, Llano County, Texas; by Methjodist minister Tom Bird. John James Haynes died on Nov 25, 1924 at Texas at age 81.
      John James Haynes and his brothers, Henry Perdew and Charles Power served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. The following letters and records were provided to me by the Texas State Archives at Austin, Texas:

Dear Mrs. Huckaby
Complying with your telephone call requesting that I give you the service record of J.J. Haynes as a Confederate soldier. On November 21, 1911, Mr. J.J. Haynes filed application for pension which was granted unter File No. 23625.

Mr. Haynes claimed in his application which is dated July 26, 1911, that he was sixty-nine years of age and had lived in Texas his entire life. He entered the service in 1862 in Company F, 18th Texas Cavalry. His application does not show the date on which he was discharged. His death occured December 5, 1924. J.J. Haynes' application was approved on the report from the War Department, Adjutant General's Office, Washington, D.C. which report follows:

"The Confederate records show that John J. Haynes, Private, Comany F. 18th Texas Cavalry, Confederate States Army, enlisted on January 25, 1862. On the muster roll for March and April, 1864, last on file, he was reported present. No later record of him has been found as a member of said organization on file in this office.

The Union records show that one J.J. Haynes, private, Company F, 18th Texas Infantry, Confederate States Army, was paroled on May 10, 1865, at Montgomery, Alabama. This name has not been found on the rolls of said organization on file in this office.

The record, also shows that on January 7, 1925, his widow Mrs. Mary M. Haynes filed applicaiton for pension under the service record of her deceased husband, which was approved on January 10, 1925 under File No. 40404.
