Johannes Neaphe was also known as John Neaphe. He Probably the same killed in the Revolutionary War, Oct. 15, 1776. He is believed to have been the "John Nevius" (misprint for "John Neafie" according to Adj General Stryker) mentioned on page 702 of Strykers "Officers and Men of N.J., in the Rev. War." He was a private in the Western Battalion, Morris County Militia; also a Private in the New Jersey State Troops. The Pension Office, Washington, report: "It also appears from the records that John Naphie enlisted Oct. 31, 1775, as a Private in Captain John Conway's company in the first regiment of New Jersey Troops commanded by the Right Honorable William, Earl of Stirling, Revolutionary War. His name appears only on the company muster roll for October 29, 1775, to January 13, 1776.
