Galen Dean Harries, 65, of Hermitage, Missouri, died Wednesday, January 10, 1996. He was born in Havensville, the son of Dean Sherman and Marie E llen Kent Harries. He remained in the Havensville during his boyhood years and later served as a Marine in the Korean War. Mr. Harries started his career in the automobile business in the Tulsa, Okla., and Kansas Ci ty area. He relocated to Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1969 and purchased the Plymouth franchise. In 1977 Mr. Harries became a partner in the Nissan franchise in Cedar Rapids and served as president of the Cedar Rapids Auto Dealer Association. He also owned and operated a hunting and gam preserve and had an interest in a North Carolina manufacturing company. Because of ill health, he retired in 1981 and moved to Lakeview Lodge in Hermitage, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 1960. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister, and a son. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and five grandchildren. Services were Sunday, January 14, in Wheatland, Mo. with graveside services January 15 at the Bucks Grove cemetery.

Mr and Mrs Walter Biester of Havensville announce the marriage of their daughter Helen Irene to Mr. Robert Eugene Perry, son of Mr and Mrs Tom Perry of Havensville.
The marriage was solemnized Tuesday evening, August 12 at 7 o'clock a t the home of the brides parents, Rev. Green of Soldier officiated.
An altar was formed of baskets of gladiolas and lighted candles. The candles were lighted by Miss Marilyn Coltharp. Preceding the ceremony, M rs. Myra Marcoux played "Claor De Lunne"(sic) and during the ceremony she softly played "Always."
The bride wore a street length dress of white crepe and lace with a corsage of pink sweetheart roses and carried a white bible. Her only jewelry was a strand of pearls, a gift of the groom.
Miss Maurine Biester attended her sister as bridesmaid and wore a corsage of white carnations.
The best man was Mr. Wilbur Post, a friend of the young couple. The brides mother wore a dress of aqua bemberg and the grooms mother wore a d ress of aqua crepe. Each wore a corsage of pink carnations. The fathers wore dark suits.
The reception was held in the home with only the immediate family present. The table was laid with a lace table cloth where the bridal couple cut their wedding cake.
Mrs. Lois Joyce and Mrs. Beatrice Beach served at the reception.

Janie May Nichols died on Jan 20, 1963 at Topeka, Shawnee County, Kansas, at age 59.
      OBITUARY
Janie May Nicholas, eldest daughter of Johnie and Clara Maude Nicholas, was born on August 14, 1903, in the Bucks Grove community. An infant twin sister died at birth. Soon after Janie's birth the Nicholas family m oved to Oklahoma where they homesteaded; and two other children, Thomas and Pearl were born. Their happy family life was interrupted by the deat h of both parents when Janie was a teenager. The children then moved to Havensville, kansas where they lived with relatives and attended the Havensville schools.
After high school Janie attended Emporia State College, obtained a teaching certificate, and taught school in the Havensville community until her marriage.
On October 5, 1926 Janie May Nicholas was united in marriage to Henry W . Shove. They established their home on a farm in the English Ridge community where their four sons were born and reared. Although Janie was quite busy at home, she found time to participate in many community activities. She was a member of the English Ridge Grange, Bucks Grove Women 's Society for Christian service, N. J. P. Homemakers Demonstration unit and the local Y. W. C. A. group. She retained her membership in the H avensville Christian church, but she attended the Bucks Grove church an d Sunday School.
After a lingering illness Janie died in a Topeka hospital on January 20, 1962, at the age of 59 years, 5 months and 6 days. Typical of her whole life during her illness, she was thoughtful, kind and considerate of others. He undaunted spirit was a demonstration of courage and an inspiration to her family and many friends.
Preceding her in death, besides her parents, and infant twin sister, was her brother, Thomas. She is survived by her husband, Henry W. Shove; four sons, Gene Clere, Urbana, Illinois; Noel Dean, Littleton, Colorado; Cecil Ray of the home; and Henry Lee of Allentown, Pennsylvania; a sister, Mrs Fred G. Venneberg, Havensville, Kansas; and three grand children , Gregory, Myrene, and Kent of Urbana, Illinois.
Memorial services were at the Bucks Grove Methodist church on January 24, 1963 at 2 p.m. Reverend Wm. Hurtig and Paul D. Holter officiated. Mrs. Roy Marcoux, accompanied Mrs. Marilyn Robbins and Mrs Karen Kossow who sang. Casket bearers were: Leo Sumner, Winston Shove, Joe Stotts, Dave Fordham, Jerry Fordham, and Merle Beach. Those ladies assisting with the flowers were: Mrs Merle Beach, Mrs. Alton Beach, Mrs Fred Fisher, Mrs. Joe Stotts, Mrs Ralph Linnenbroker, and Mrs Lester Bottom.
Interment was in the Bucks Grove cemetery. Mercer funeral home of Ho ton, was in charge of arrangements.
