BATON ROUGE — Mary Jean Keith Miller, 79, died at 6:25 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1 5, 2003, in a Baton Rouge care facility.
Mrs. Miller was born in Shreveport and lived for many years in Lake Charle s. She graduated from Lake Charles High School in 1941 and later return ed to college to pursue a teaching degree. She received honors and graduat ed cum laude from McNeese State University in 1964. She was a teacher in C alcasieu Parish for six years at Prien Lake Elementary and W.T. Henning El ementary. She then formed Keith Real Estate, which she operated for five y ears. She associated with Ableman Real Estate and Accent Realty as a realt or until 2001. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Survivors include thr ee sons, Robert L. Miller Jr. and wife Jeanne Miller, Patrick L. Miller a nd wife Patrica Cop Miller, all of Baton Rouge, and Edwin K. Miller and wi fe Judy Miller of Atlanta; eight grandchildren, Robert L. Miller III, Robe rt William Gaudet Jr., William Patrick Gaudet, Mary Christan Twilah Gaude t, Natalie Renee Miller, Michael Lynn Miller, Andrew Frank Miller, and Bai ley Chavanne Miller; six great-grandchildren, Sean Lamar Gaudet, Ryan Chri stian Gaudet, Kayla Gaudet, Mary Grace Gaudet, Jordan Gaudet; eight stepgr andchildren, including Jeffery Connally, Jonathan Connally, Sunny Wall Bur dsall, Michael J. MCCORMICK, S.C. - A funeral service for Mrs. Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Nordyke will be held on Tuesday, August 23 at 10:30 a.m. at the McCormick United Methodist Church. A graveside service will follow at the Overbrook Cemetery in McCormick. Betty Nordyke, 75, of McCormick, died Saturday, August 20, 2005 at her home after a valiant struggle with cancer. She was born January 10, 1930, in Lake Charles, La., to the late Franklin and Laura Miller. Betty attended Lake Charles High School and worked in her father's business until 1953. She married her high school sweetheart, H. Gail Nordyke, Jr. in 1951. She was predeceased in death by her sisters, Kate Jaynes and Mabel Eagle, and by her brothers, Frank and Robert (Bobby). Betty and her husband Gail were frequent visitors to McCormick since 1968 where they maintained a vacation residence on Thurmond Lake (Clarks Hill) until becoming full time McCormick residents there upon Gail's retirement in 1991. Betty was a member of First United Methodist Church of Greenwood and an Associate Member of McCormick United Methodist Church. She served her church with faithful attendance and as Circle Leader, Church Hostess, Choir Member, Board Member and Lay Member to the South Carolina Conference. She served her Community by contributing her time and energy to Helping Hands, the McCormick Arts Council, the McCormick Senior Center and by serving and singing in the McCormick County Community Chorus, since its beginning. Survivors include her husband, H. Gail Nordyke, Jr., daughters, the Reverend Janice Robertson of Jefferson City, Tenn., and Sharon Coleman, NP of Alexandria, La; daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Dennis Bankston of Trussville, Ala., and Mary Alice and Scott Caldwell of Loganville, Ga; and son and daughter-in-law, Harry and Debbie Nordyke of Litchfield, N.H; eight grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren; sister, Virginia Finley of Lafayette, La; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Mary Miller and Leon and Peggy Miller of Lake Charles, La. Pallbearers, representing various organizations and her family, include her grandson-in-law, Andrew Freck; Mitch Mitchell and Bob Rennie for the McCormick County Community Chorus; Ken Flinchum and Phil Bailey for her churches; Royce Grizzard for the McCormick Arts Council; Harvey Lee Murray for Helping Hands; Hugh Brown for the McCormick Lions; Henry Burch for neighbors and friends; Jim Cason for Friends of the Library; and J. Harry Gail Nordyke, Jr. (Gail) is a native of Louisiana. Gail was bo rn in Welsh and reared in Lake Charles. He attended city schools and grad uated from the Lake Charles High School in 1947. He attended MeNeese Juni or College and Louisiana State University. After graduating from LSU wi th a BS in Chemical Engineering and a commission in the Us Army. He recei ved his MS from LSU in Chemical Engineering in 1962. Gail married Elizabe th Ann (Betty) Miller who remained at his side for 54 years. They have fi ve children, eight grand children and three great grand children. Betty d ied in 2005. Gail retired to McCormick after 25 years in manufacturing a nd engineering which took him to such places as Lake Charles, Louisia na to Saltville, Virginia and Augusta, Georgia. He is very active in t he community and supports activities such as his church, the Lions Club, F riends of the Library, Relay for Life and the MACK.

      Rev. Janice Marie Nordyke was born on Aug 4, 1952. She was the daughter of Harry Gail Nordyke Jr. and Elizabeth Ann Miller. Janice married Jerry Lynn Roberts on Aug 10, 1972. Rev. Janice Marie Nordyke and Jerry Lynn Roberts were divorced. Janice married Elmer Kermit Robertson.
     Rev. Janice Marie Nordyke resided at at Jefferson City, Jefferson County, Tennessee, in 2005.

     Jerry married Rev. Janice Marie Nordyke, daughter of Harry Gail Nordyke Jr. and Elizabeth Ann Miller, on Aug 10, 1972. Jerry Lynn Roberts and Rev. Janice Marie Nordyke were divorced.
