On January 4, 1895

"Died at Hospital," the newspaper reported the final details: " S. W. Paulhamus who fell from a trestle at a lumber yard at Slate Run December 26, died at the city hospital at 10 o'clock last night. He was about 47 years of age. He is survived by a wife and three children. The former and his brother were with him when he died. He did not regain consciousness after the accident. An autopsy will be performed this afternoon. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock, from the residence of his mother-in-law Mrs. Nenninger at 504 Washington Boulevard."

He began military service on Jun 25, 1863; Co K. 28th Pennsylvania Infantry. He ended military service on Aug 11, 1863. He began military service on Mar 29, 1864; Co. K, 187th Pennsylvania Infantry. He Received $300 bounty for three years or the duration. Served at Carlisle Barracks, Camp Curtain, across the Susquehanna River from Harrisburg, and in the US Army Hospital, Washington, DC, at Camp Cliffburne, located at what is now Calvert Road and Cliffborne St, then with Depot headquarters at Camp Cliffbourne, then to Quartermaster General's Office. He ended military service on Dec 10, 1865. In the census on Jun 11, 1880 Samuel Wesley Paulhamus was named Wesley Paulhamus.

From the "Williamsport Sun", December 26, 1894

"S. W. Paulhamus meets with a serious accident at Slate Run. On a cot at the Williamsport Hospital and severely injured and in delirium most of the time, lies S. W. Paulhamus a lumber counter who was employed in the yards of Weed & Co. at Slate Run. Paulhamus was found Saturday lying insensible at the foot of a 16 foot trestle, off which he is supposed to have fallen. How long he had lain there no one knew, as there were no witnesses to the accident. Over his right eye the blood oozed from an ugly wound. Dr. Delaney was summoned to attend the wounded man. Dr. P.C. Reilly assisted in relieving the man."
