Miss Virtie Pitman, daughter of Mr & Mrs Fine Pitman to Fred McBroom, son of M & Mrs Harvey McBroom. Both young people reside at this place. The ceremony
was performed by Rev O.W. McGaughey of Veedersburg, at the home of Mr & Mrs Ed Gebhart of Danville, IL. Miss Pitman left this city on the morning train on
Monday for Danville where she was joined by Mr McBroom, who had preceded her o Sunday evening. Immediately following the marriage service the young people left for Chicago. The bride of one of Hillsboro's most popular young ladies and is highly respected by everyone. She is a musician and with her charming personality and talent has won many warm friends. The groom is a young man of sterling character and is very popular with a large circle of friends. He was a teacher in the public schools of this place for a time but later became a railway mail clerk which position he now holds. Hillsboro Man Resigns As Railway Postal Clerk - Fred M McBroom, of Hillsboro, a railway postal clerk in the Chicago and Evansville railway post office, retire 1 Oct 1945, ending 36 & 1/2 years of service. Failing eyesight was the cause of retirement, 2 & 1/2 years short of the optional retirement age of 60 years. Mr McBroom grew to manhood at Hillsboro and taught in the Hillsboro school for 3 years before entering the railway mail service. He was married to Miss Virtie Pitman, of Hillsboro, and spent 30 years of their married life in Chicago before her death in 1943. After her death he returned to Hillsboro where he will continue to reside.

He was graduated from Hillsboro High School. Mr McBroom was born at Pine Village on 2 April 1889, a son of Harvey & Daisy McBroom. He was married to Virtie Pitman on 4 Aug 1913. She died in 1943. He then was marrie to Florence Ennis on 1 Jan 1959. Surviving are his wife; a daughter Eloise J Truce of West Lafayette; a sister Lucille Crumley; two grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 PM Saturday in Crumley-Williams

He had been in failing health several years, & for the past 20 years he lived at Route 1, Akron. Born in Pine Village, he was first married in 1913 to Virtie Pitman, who died in 1943. His second marriage was to Florence Ennis in 1959, and she survives. Mr McBroom was a graduate of Hillsboro High School and Indiana Normal College at Danville. After graduation he taught school at Hillsboro 3 years and then moved to Chicago, IL, where he was employed by Railway Postal Service for 36 years. During the time he lived in Chicago, he was active in Woodlawn Baptist Church, and at the time of his death was a member of Akron Church of God. Surviving with the widow are a daughter Mrs Eloise J Truce of West Lafayette, and one sister Lucille Crumley of Williamsport. Friends may call after 6 PM today at Crumley-Williams Funeral Home, Hillsboro. Services 2 PM Saturday in Crumley-Williams Chapel, Miss Mary Cooper officiating. conducted by Pastor Harrison, Wednesday afternoon at the church and burial followed in Hillsboro, IN. Since 1919, when Mr & Mrs McBroom joined our church, she has served faithfully many times as pianist and worked in a number of different organizations including the Junior Dept and the Board of
Deaconesses, She leaves behind a host of friends to whom she has endeared herself and who will ever have sweet and precious memories of her beautiful
Christian life. To Mr McBroom, Eloise and Bill, we express our heartfelt sympathy and earnestly pray that the consciousness of the Heavenly Father's presence may bring them sweet comfort and abiding peace. Funeral Service Held For Former Hillsboro Resident - Never having regained her health following a surgical operation at the IL Central Hospital in Chicago in July, Mrs Virtie McBroom, 48, wife of Fred McBroom, died at the hospital at 8 o'clock Sunday night, December 12. Mrs McBroom re-entered the hospital several days ago as a medical patient. She was born in Hillsboro, the daughter of Finas M & Gerty Ellis Pitman on 17 April 1895. She graduated from the Hillsboro High School and studied music. After her marriage to Fred McBroom, of Hillsboro, in 1913, they moved to Chicago where he has been employed as a railway mail clerk. Mrs McBroom taught piano in the city for several years. One daughter, Eloise, was born to this union. Mrs McBroom was a member of the Woodlawn Baptist Church in Chicago. Survivors are the husband; the daughter, Mrs Eloise Truce of Crawfordsville; her parents; one sister, Mrs Hazel Munns of Columbia City; and one brother, Glen R Pitman of Hillsboro. A funeral service was held from the Woodlawn Baptist Church in Chicago, Wednesday afternoon at ? o'clock and the body was then brought overland to the home of her brother, Mr Mrs Glen R Pitman, Hillsboro, Wednesday evening, to remain until the funeral. A service was held at the Hillsboro Methodist Church at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, conducted by the Rev John Kirkpatrick, of Kewannee, IN, a former pastor of the church. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro.

Survivors are the husband; the daughter, Mrs Eloise Truce of Crawfordsville; her parents; one sister, Mrs Hazel Munns of Columbia City; and one brother, Glen R Pitman of Hillsboro. A funeral service was held from the Woodlawn Baptist Church in Chicago, Wednesday afternoon at ? o'clock and the body was then brought overland to the home of her brother, Mr Mrs Glen R Pitman, Hillsboro, Wednesday evening, to remain until the funeral. A service was held at the Hillsboro Methodist Church at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, conducted by the Rev John Kirkpatrick, of Kewannee, IN, a former pastor of the church. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro.
