I, Peninah B. Good, of Mahaska County Iowa, being of sound mind and memory and in my mental state of health, but mindful of the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death do make, execute, and declare this to be my last will and testament hereby revoking all former will by me at any time heretofore made.

First,

I bequeath my body to the ground from whence it came there to be decently buried and my immortal soul to God who gave it, through the grace of an ever living Lord and Savior in whom I have put my trust.

Second,

It is my will and I direct that all my just debts including the expense of my last illness and burial and the costs of settling my estate and the erection of a suitable tombstone to mark my last resting place be first paid out of the proceeds of my personal property so far as the same may be sufficient and any shortage to be paid by the sale of such of any real estate, of which I may die seized and possessed; as to my executor may seem for the best interest of my estate.

Third,

I give, devises and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Jane Snyder the sum of Five Hundred Dollars, as her full share of my estate.

Fourth,

All the rest, residue and remainder of my estate of whatever sort and kind and wherever situated of which I may die seized and possessed, I give, grant, devise, and bequeath unto my children William B. Good, Julia Ann Shook, Susanna Hockey, Andrew J. Good, John D. Good, and ? Walter J. Good to be equally divided between them share and share alike and should any of my said children die before me the share or legacy herein bequeathed to such child shall go to the lawful heirs of such child.

Fifth,

I hereby nominate and appoint L. O. McDonough to be executor of this my last will and testament. Witness my hand at Oskaloosa, Iowa this 24th day of Feb. 1908.

Comes now the above named executor and states to the court that he is the duly appointed, legally qualified and now acting Executor of the said estate. That said decedent died on the 16th day of Jan-
uary, 1916 leaving an estate of the value of about $14,000.00 consisting principally of one note for $14,000.00 secured by a first mortgage on 160 acres of land in Mahaska County, Iowa which was executed by Albert T. Snyder about March 1, 1914 and is due ten years after date and bears 5% interest. That your Executor is unable to dispose of the said note and mortgage at their face value on account of the unfavorable terms under which it was made but he has an offer for the sum of $13,000.00 and interest accrued to the 1st of March, 1917 and in his judgment it will be for the best interest of the said estate to dispose of the said mortgage and note for that price and close the estate at this time as he has been unable to secure any better or more advantageous offer of the said property.

WHEREFORE he asks that he be authorized to sell and dispose of the said mortgage and note for the sum of $13,000.00 and accrued interest.

Death came to William Good, 70, in St. Luke’s Hospital in Denver, on Wednesday morning of this week after an illness for which he had been treated at that place since leaving Wray, January 3rd. Previous to the removal of Mr. Good to the Denver hospital, he had been a patient at the Wray.
