ABRAHAM OZMUN, hardware dealer, was born in Tompkins county, New York, August 31, 1814. In the spring of 1856 he came west to Illinois, and in the fall of the same year came to Winona, Minnesota. Later he came to Rochester and located on a farm one mile west of' the village. In 1859 he was elected to the legislature where lie served one term. In 1862 be moved to the city and embarked in the drygoods business, and later .in hardware. The frame building he occupied was burned, and the one that now commodates the immense stock was erected in 1872. The building is 46 × 115, and is two stories high with basement the full size of the building. In 1882 his son A. M. Ozmun withdrew from the firm, and is now a partner in a wholesale firm in St. Paul. He was succeeded by John M. Booth, and the firm is now Ozmun & Booth, who are doing a large wholesale and retail business. The subject of this sketch was married October 3, 1834, to Miss Electa Hedden, also a native of New York. The names of their children, are as follows: Aaron (now residing in St. Paul), Mary M. (Colorado, Springs), Montgomery (also at Colorado Springs, Colorado & Ella E., Edward H. and Charles T. The Ozmun family are of Welsh origin but the ancestors came to America previous to the revolution, the grandfather of our subject being a soldier in that struggle. He was taken prisoner at Fort Montgomery, and died the notorious "sugarhouse" prison. M. A. Ozmun died at Colorado Springs August 12, 1883 and was buried in Rochester on the 17th.

Not mentioned in this biography is that Electa J. Hedden b.abt 8 Mar 1815 died in Lansing, Tompkins County, New York 10 May 1850 age 35yrs 2mo 20da and is buried in East Lansing Cemetery.

He then married 3 Mar 1853 Maria d/o Isaac and Jemima (VanWagoner) Schenck (as per letter written by Maria to sister Elizabeth (Schenck) Young in Corunna, Michigan

EDWARD HENRY OZMUN. EDWARD HENRY OZMUN. page 374 Mr. Ozmun is a lawyer at St. Paul. He is th e son of Abraham Ozmun and Maria Schenck (Ozmun). The elder Ozmun moved West from Tompkins Co unty, New York, and was for many years a wholesale and retail hardware dealer in Rochester, M innesota, and held the office of mayor of the city for two terms. The ancestors of Edward H . Ozmun served as patriots in the War of the Revolution. His great-grandfather, Isaac Ozmun , enlisted as a private and suffered martyrdom for the cause of the colonies. He, with his, s on was captured by the British, taken to the old sugar house prison in New York, and there st arved to death with many others. Recently a monument to their memory has been erected in tha t city. On the maternal side Edward is the great-grandson of Captain John Schenck and Richar d Van Wagner, who served in the Revolutionary War. The former is a lineal descendant of Gener al Martin Schenck, a Holland nobleman, who was a general in the army of the Prince of Orange . General Robert Schenck, formerly minister to the Court of St. James, is a cousin of the mot her of Mr. Ozmun.

April 5, 2007 10 am at the First Baptist Church of Minco with Jim Ross of the
Minco Church of Christ officiating.

Herbert G. Starkey was born February 24, 1914 at Oklahoma City to Joseph James
and Beatrice (Strever) Starkey and died Sunday, April 1, 2007 at his home in
Minco.

Mr. Starkey attended school from 1st - 8th grade at Crooked Oak in East OKC,
then went to Capitol Hill for 9th - 11th and graduated from Minco High School
after his Senior year. He farmed all of his life. He served as a STAFF Sgt. in
the United States Army Air Corps during WWII, he served from 8-3-1943 to 11-29-
1945 and was stationed in New Guinea and Australia. Mr. Starkey was a member
of the First Baptist Church of Minco and a member of the American Legion Minco
Post #215.

Mr. Starkey was preceded in death by his parents J.J. and Beatrice Starkey;
Three sisters: Grace Rowe, Hazel Malcom, and Elene Castillo.

He is survived by: One brother and sister-in-law: James and Betty Starkey of
Minco; One brother-in-law: Dale Rowe of Pocasset; One sister: Lucille McComas
of Chickasha and a host of nieces and nephews.

Burial in Evergreen Cemetery in Minco under the direction of Huber-Reynolds
Funeral Home of Minco.

Services for Grace (Starkey) Rowe, 88, of Pocasset were held on Friday, March 23, 2007, 2 pm at the Southern Oaks Church of Christ at 3320 S. 16th St. Chickasha, OK with Jim Sheerer and Jim Ross officiating. Burial followed at the Friendship Cemetery SW Minco, under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home of Minco.

Grace was born May 23, 1918 at Oklahoma City to J.J. and Beatrice (Strever) Starkey. She passed away on Tuesday, March 20th at her home in Pocasset. Graces family moved to Minco in 1930 from Oklahoma City and she graduated from Minco High School in 1935. She went on to complete her Teachers Certification from the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha and Central State University in Edmond and taught for 2-1/2 years at the Hazel Dell School at Minco.

On February 9, 1940 Grace married Dale Rowe at Chickasha; they made their home in Pocasset and had recently celebrated their 67th anniversary.

Grace was a member of the Southern Oaks Church of Christ in Chickasha. She was also a member of the Arcadia Home Demonstration Club for over 50 years and served as secretary of the Friendship Cemetery Board for 22 years.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents: J.J. and Beatrice Starkey and two sisters: Hazel Malcom and Elene Castillo.

She is survived by her husband Dale of the home in Pocasset; one son: Gene Rowe also of the home; three daughters: Becky and husband Larry Joe Fitzgerald of Minco, Dianne Jackson and Connie Huseman both of Alex; two brothers: Herbert Starkey and James and wife Betty Starkey all of Minco; one sister: Lucille McComas of Chickasha; eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
