Victor McCaig, 81, of Amarillo died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Jerry Coffman officiating.
Mr. McCaig was born Dec. 9, 1922, in Bono to Barney and Veda (Lafever) McCaig. He married Edith Conover on June 1, 1946, in Tucumcari, N.M. He worked for the Amarillo Fire Department for more than 30 years, where he retired as captain in 1978 from Station Seven. He retired from the City of Amarillo in the traffic engineering department after 23 years, for a total of 57 years of service with the City of Amarillo. He served his country in the Navy during World War II on the USS Stockton. One of his greatest joys was being Santa Claus at Sears for 17 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, Kory Gwyn on June 8, 2000.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Strecia McCaig and Lisa Bellar and husband, Paul, all of Amarillo; and a sister, Juanita Martindale of Amarillo.
The family suggests memorials be to American Heart Association.
