Mrs. Mayme Baker of Meadville Dies Here

Mrs. Renzie (Mayme J.) Baker, a resident of Meadville, died yearterday afternoon at a Chillichothe nursing home, where she had been a patient since September.

She was born March 23, 1883, in Mendon, Ill., daughter of Winfield Seals and Margaret (Austin) Seals. On August 5, 1908 she married Renzie Baker.

Survivors include her husband of the home in Meadville; five daughters, Mrs. Winifred Patton of Downey, Calif., Mrs. Mary Jane Hicks of Chillicothe, Mrs. Norma Manning of Kansas City, Mrs Shirley Simmons of Sunflower, Kan., and Mrs. Judith Green of Anaheim, Calif; three sons, Orville Baker of Meadville, Rogers Baker of Wheatland, Calif., and L. D. Baker of Downey, Calif; three sisters, Mrs. Winifred Tenk of Quincy, Ill., Mrs. Susan Hammond of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Sylvia Walsh of Brookfield; two brothers, Austin Seals of Meadville and Prescott Seals of Denver, Colo; 47 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two children.

Funeral arrangements under the direction of the Wright Funeral Home in Meadville, are incomplete and will be announced later.

      Winifred Tenk dies; member of pioneer families

Mrs. Winifred Eva (Winnie) Tenk, 90, 434 N. Fifth, died at 4:15 p.m., Wednesday (Oct 22, 1975) in St. Mary Hospital where she had been a patient two and a half weeks.

Mrs. Tenk was born in Loraine, Aug. 2, 1885, a daughter of Winfield and Margaret Austin Seals. She first married Samuel Fogleman who preceded her in death. She later married Ernest Richard Apel, who also preceded her in death. She married Jacob Tenk who died in March, 1967. She was a member of the Eagles Auxilliary. Mrs. Tenk was a descendant of two pioneer families, the Austins and the Seals. Her Austin ancestry could be traced to the early 1600s when her forefathers took the first settlers into Texas. A Seals ancestor was the third white man to settle in Adams County.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. E. J. (Ernestine) Haffner and Mrs. Christine Irwin, both of Quincy; one son, Winfield Fogleman of Quincy; two brothers, Prescott Seals of Denver, Colo., and Austin Seals of Meadville, Mo; and two sister, Mrs Suzanne Hammond of Denver and Mrs. Sylvia Walsh of Brookfield, Mo., four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Ted Fogleman and Harry Apel; one grandson, Edward Fogleman, one sister, Mrs. Mary Jane (Mayme) Baker; and four brothers, John, Yale, Harry and Eugene Seals.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a. m. in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. A. H. ??.

Frank Y. Austin Dies; Last Rites Saturday

Frank Y. Austin died last night at his home six miles south of Brookfield on Highway 11.

Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. W. W. Jordan of Rothville at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Rothville Baptist Church, and burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The body will remain at the Hill Funeral Home until late this afternoon, when it will be taken to the family home.

Frank Yale Austin, son of Daniel and Mariah Austin, was born Sept. 24, 1874, in Mendon, Ill. On Oct. 13, 1897, he married Anna Venable. There were two sons, Frank D. Austin of Amarillo, Tex., and Cecil Austin, who died Nov. 25, 1954.

Other survivors include the widow, Mrs. Anna Austin, of the home; a sister, Mrs. Ada Austin Martin, Concord, N. H; a brother, Ed Austin, Greeley, Colo; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Austin was a member of the Rothville Baptist Church, and had lived practically all his life in Chariton County.

Wednesday (Dec 13, 1978) in the Hancock County Nursing Home in Carthage where had been ill for several months. A 44-year resident of West Point, Mr. Austin was a retired rural mail carrier. He was born near Mendon, on Jun 17, 1912, a son of Clarence and Mabel Kincaid Austin and attended local schools and Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Mo. He married Fern Billingsley in Quincy on Dec. 2, 1934. Surviving are his wife; two sons, Allan of Beardstown and Dan of Quincy; two daughters Mrs. John (Jean) Dreckmeier of Burlington, Iowa, and Mrs. Rod (Judy) Wartick of Bowen; a sister, Mrs. Edith Berg of Norco, Calif; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and a granson. Services will be held at 1:30 p. m. Sunday in the Freeman Funeral Home in West Point with the Rev. Larry G. Coile conducting. Burial will be in the West Point Cemetery.

Mrs. Frank Austin Dies; Final Rites in Rothville

Mrs. Frank Y. Austin, who lived six miles south of Brookfield on Highway 11, died yesterday afternoon at St. Mary's Hospital in Kansas City. She was 81.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon by the Rev. W. W. Jordan at the Rothville Baptist Church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Brookfield.

Survivors include a son, Frank D., of Amarillo, Tex; three grandchildren, Ralph Austin, Brookfield; Dorotha Ritz, OVerland Park, Kan., and Jean Ann Austin, Amarillo, Tex; six great-grandchildren, Ralph Donald Austin and John Earl Austin, both of Brookfield, Jim Ritz, Joe Ritz, Leslie Ann Ritz, and John Ritz, all of Overland Park, Kan; a brother, Nat Venable, Rothville and several nieces and nephews.

A son, Cecil J. Austin, died in 1954.

Mrs. Austin was a member of the Rothville Baptist Church for nearly 70 years. She had lived on a farm in Chariton County since 1909. For the past two years, she had spent the winter months in Amarillo with her son.

      Howard Luther Morton was born in 1906. Howard married Dorothy Morton Austin, daughter of Dr. Adelbert Morton Austin M.D. and Roxie Ellen Murphy, on Aug 1, 1931 at Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana. Howard Luther Morton died in 1955.
