Born June 13, 1922 in Redding, to Forrest "Del" Deane and Grace (Hammond) Deane, she was reared in San Francisco. She married Howard Newsham and had one daughter, Michele.

Marjory worked at Pacific Bell during World War II, and later at Standard Oil. She also spent many years as a volunteer and homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister Fredine and her granddaughter Staci Santiago. Marjory is survived by her daughter Michele Newsham of Napa; three grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, as well as her sister Betty Adkins and numerous neices and nephews.

The family will hold private services. Arrangements by Tulocay Cemetery Association.

JESSE BIRDIE MORRIS son of ELIJAH TAYLOR MORRIS (1853-1922) and MARY ELIZABETH MORRIS (1855-1906) was born 17 November 1878 in Raywick, Marion County, Kentucky, and died 30 December 1963 in Princeton, Bureau County, Illinois. He married SALLY JANE HASH 12 March 1907 in Lebanon, Marion County, Kentucky, daughter of ROBERT HASH and CAROLINE THOMPSON. She was born 05 April 1885 in Taylor County, Kentucky, and died 24 May 1975 in Princeton, Bureau County, Illinois. Birdie MORRIS was married to Sally Jane HASH on March 12, 1907 in Lebanon, Kentucky at the residence of Dr. A C GRAVES. "Birdie" is listed in 1880 Marion County, Kentucky census as Jessee B age 2 and his marriage certificate says J B MORRIs but he was called Birdie.

They were living in Indiantown township when the 1910 Bureau County, Illinois censu was taken and in 1920 they were in the Wyanet township. Birdie and Sally took great pride in their horses and probably often entered contests at far time etc. They were winners of the 1917 County Fair competition. The Bureau County Republican, Princeton, Illinois so noted by printing a picture of the 1917 winners in the August 11, 1987 edition of the paper.

After many years of farming the couple moved to 223 North First in Princeton, Illinois. Birdie died in 1964 and Sally in 1975. They are interred in the Oakland Cemetery, Princeton, Illinois.

Nathan married Lillie Alice Morris, daughter of Elijah Taylor Morris and Mary Elizabeth Morris, on May 12, 1910 at Bride's home, Marion County, Kentucky. Nathan Roy Carlile died in 1957. Nathan was buried at Mount Bloom Cemetery, Tiskilwa, Bureau County, Illinois.
     He was also known as Roy Nathan Carlile.





ROY NATHAN CARLILE died 1957. He married LILLIE ALICE MORRIS Bef. 1911 in Kentucky, daughter of ELIJAH TAYLOR MORRIS (1853-1922) and MARY ELIZABETH MORRIS (1855-1906) . She was born 18 July 1892 in Marion County, Kentucky, and died 09 November 1918 in Tiskilwa, Bureau County, Illinois. Lillie Alice Morris and Roy Nathan Carlile were married in Kentucky. Their first child ELSIE ODETTE CARLILE was born on April 11, 1911 at Campbellsville, Kentucky. According to Elsie's recollections, the family lived in the community ofMineral located in western Bureau County, Illinois.
Around 1913 a second daughter Martha was born. She died as a baby or young child and is buried in the Mineral Cemetery. By 1916 the family had moved to Fountain County, Indiana and a third daughter, OCIA RACHEL CARLILE had been born. They may have lived near or with Roy's mother Martha Carlile who was there at that time. The family returned to Illinois and came to the Tiskilwa area. This move took place before Lillie died in 1918. She was pregnant with a fourth child when she became ill with "the flu". Lillie died on November 9, 1918. Here death certificate gives cause of death as -- Epidemic Influenza with Broncho-Pneuomonia. Also contributing to her death was the miscarriage, premature birth of a daughter on the preceding day of November 8. Baby Alpha died on November 9. They were buried in Mt. Bloom Cemetery, Tiskilwa, Bureau County, Illinois.

The 1920 census listes Roy, his daughters Elsie and Ocia, his mother Martha and his brother Charlie living at Tiskilwa, Illinois. Martha is "head of household", Charlie is farming and Roy is working on the railroad. We don't know if Martha came to Illinois when Roy and Lillie did or if she came after Lillie's death in 1918. Martha Carlile was living in Indiana at the time of her death in 1925. Elsie remembers that she and sister Ocia were cared for by several members of their extended family, Grandmom Carlile, Uncle Henry and Aunt Emma Morris and Uncle Jim and Aunt Ida Morris. As the girls grew older and could help their Dad they lived with him on a farm near Tiskilwa, remaining there until they married and left to establish their own homes. Roy Carlile died in 1957 and is also buried in Mt. Bloom Cemetery.

      Richard Roy Morris was born on Jul 7, 1889 at Raywick, Marion County, Kentucky. He was the son of Elijah Taylor Morris and Mary Elizabeth Morris. Richard married Edna May Handley, daughter of John Handley and Rebecca Rivers, on Jan 18, 1912 at J. Handley Home, Taylor County, Kentucky. Richard Roy Morris died on Oct 25, 1968 at Kentucky at age 79. Richard was buried at Good Hope Cemetery, Taylor County, Kentucky.
     

RICHARD ROY MORRIS son of ELIJAH TAYLOR MORRIS (1853-1922) and MARY ELIZABETH MORRIS (1855-1906) was born 07 July 1889 in Raywick, Marion County, Kentucky, and died 25 October 1968 in Taylor County, Kentucky. He married EDNA MAY HANDLEY 18 January 1912 in Taylor County, Kentucky, daughter of JOHN HANDLEY and REBECCA RIVERS. She was born 10 August 1887 in Taylor County, Kentucky, and died 09 June 1964 in Campbellsville, Taylor County, Kentucky. Their first home was with her parents John Handley and Rebecca Rivers Handley. The Handley's lived in Taylor County, near the Finley and Willowtown area. After Mr Handley died, Roy and Edna continuted to farm the land and lived with Mrs Handley. Six of their children were born in the Handley home. By 1927 when Oscar the seventh child arrived, Roy had built a 2 story frame house for his family. It was located across the road from the Handley homestead. Roy, Edna and family continued to live and farm there until 1955-1956 when they bought a house and thirty acres at the edge of Campbellsville on Highway 55. Jane moved to town with her parents. The boys had married and established their own homes, all of them in the Campbellsville or Louisville area. Edna died in 1964 and Roy in 1968. They are buried in Good Hope Cemetery located in Taylor County, Kentucky.

James Porter Morris
      James Porter Morris was born on Aug 21, 1887 at Raywick, Marion County, Kentucky. He was the son of Elijah Taylor Morris and Mary Elizabeth Morris. James married Ida Middleton in 1911. James Porter Morris died on Jul 26, 1937 at Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, at age 49.
     

JAMES MORRIS and Ida MIDDLETON may have married in Indiana. Ida had a previous marriage and a daughter Effie. We know that they lived in Kentucky and later Illinois. We believe that they came to Illinois around 1917 and worked on a farm west of Tiskilwa for several years. They also worked for Logan an older brother of Jim. It is remembered by Ruth Dyer that Jim and family lived and farmed near Thomastwon northwest of New Bedford, Illinois. It was from there that they sold out and moved back to Kentucky around 1929-1930. Their next home was on a farm near Elizabethtown, Hardin County, Kentucky. Sometime later they moved to a farm near Crab Orchard/Crab Apple, Kentucky. They were living there when Jim died in 1937.

Ida remarried and for a second time lived in Louisville. Rachel and family visited them in 1942. We believe that her second husband proceeded her in death. Ida's daughter had a son whose name (??) was Raymond. We hope to learn more about Uncle Jim and his family.

      Magnorah Morris was born on Apr 9, 1883 at Kentucky. She was the daughter of Elijah Taylor Morris and Mary Elizabeth Morris. Magnorah married Henry Brown circa 1900. Magnorah Morris and Henry Brown were divorced. Magnorah married William Earl Skaggs, son of John D. Skaggs and Elizabeth Jane Meers, on May 22, 1906 at Lebanon, Marion County, Kentucky. Magnorah Morris died on Oct 29, 1915 at Marion County, Kentucky, at age 32.
     

MAGNORAH MORRIS daughter of ELIJAH TAYLOR MORRIS (1853-1922) and MARY ELIZABETH MORRIS (1855-1906) was born 09 April 1883 in Kentucky, and died 29 October 1915 in Marion County, Kentucky. She married (1) HENRY BROWN Bet. 1899 - 1900. She married (2) WILLIAM "WILLIE" EARL SKAGGS 22 May 1906 in Lebanon, Marion County, Kentucky, son of JOHN D SKAGGS and ELIZABETH JANE MEERS. He was born September 1883 in Larue County, Kentucky, and died 24 June 1933 in New Haven, Nelson County, Kentucky.

Henry Brown, a widower with 3 children, was Norah's first husband. She was probably about 16 when they were married. Ben Jones tells that Elijah (Grandpa Morris) gave his consent to the marriage. A record of this marriage hasn't been found as yet. Ben also reported that for a short time this marriage ended and Norah married Willie Skaggs.

A record for the second marriage has been found and it gives some information about Norah's name. I speculate that she was probably named Margaret Norah Morris at birth but called Maggie or Magnorah. All of her brothers and sisters were named with two given names BUT non of them used their first names. They all used the middle names such as Andrew Logan - used Logan, John Henry - used Henry and Sally Rachel - used Rachel. When Norah was married to Mr Skaggs the marriage certificate gives the name of Maggie Norn Morris. She is referred to asMagnorah in some of the Mt Washington church records.

Norah was married to William Earl Skaggs in Lebanon, Kentucky on May 22, 1906. Their four children were born in Kentucky and around 1913 the family came to Illinois where "Willie" worked for his brother in law Logan Morris. Shortly after coming to Illinois Norah became ill with "TB". The family returned to Kentucky and may have lived at the home of her father. Norah died around 1915 and is buried in Good Hope Cemetery. The cemetery is located beside the Good Hope Baptist Church in rural Taylor County, Kentucky. Willie and the children appear in the 1920 census living in New Haven, Kentucky. The family is lving beside Willie's parents, John D and Elizabeth Skaggs. Willie died in 1933 and is interred at the Methodist Cemetery, New Haven, Kentucky.
