Joseph married Phebe Ann Merrill, daughter of Alma Merrill and Rebecca Hendricks, on Sep 20, 1926 at Pocatello, Bannock County, Idaho. Joseph LaDoris Atkinson died on May 23, 1972 at Pocatello, Bannock County, Idaho, at age 80.
     

      Varnell James Anderson was born on Sep 7, 1909 at Hyrum, Cache County, Utah. He was the son of Joseph Willard Anderson and Carrie Ann Thorsen. Varnell married Vermont Merrill, daughter of Alma Merrill and Rebecca Hendricks, on Jun 20, 1928 at Logan Temple, Logan, Cache County, Utah. Varnell James Anderson died on Dec 1, 1973 at Kennewick, Beneton County, Washington, at age 64. Varnell was buried at Desert Lawh Memorial Park, Kennewick, Beneton County, Washington.
     He was also known as James Varnell Anderson. He and Vermont Merrill removed to at Pasco, Franklin County, Washington, in Nov, 1960.

The Varnell Andersen Family had its beginning with the marriage of Varnell Anderson to Vermont Merrill in the Logan Temple on June 20, 1928. Varnell was the seventh child of Joseph W. and Carrie Thorsen Andersen of Hyrum, Utah. He had seven brothers and two sisters. He was born September 7, 1909, ay Hyrum, Utah. Vermont was born on November 15th, 1909, at Richmond, Utah. She was the youngest living child of Alma and Rebecca Merrill of Richmond, Utah. She was raised in Richmond, Utah, and attended the North Cache High School. Varnell attended the South Cache High School near Hyrum. They met each other through school activities.

Immediately after they were married they moved to Moore, Idaho, where Varnell was engaged in farming and cattle raising. They lived on their ranch in Moore until 1948, when they moved to a home in Arco, Idaho. Four children were born into the family while they lived on the ranch: Claris on December 20, 1929; Ardeth Joyce on May 11, 1933; Rene Joan on August 8, 1939; and Nola on July 16, 1943.

After leaving the ranch, Varnell operated a service station in Arco for three years and then became engaged in construction work. Vermont, along with keeping the home, worked as a store clerk in Arco and other communities in which they lived. In 1957 construction work took the family to Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. The family at home at this time was reduced to three. The other girls having married and started families of their own. The family lived near Pittsburg for eighteen months and then moved to Ravenwood, West Virginia, where they lived for one year. From there they moved to Kennewick, Washington, stopping in Arco for several months on the way. Starting at that time (1960) Varnell had been engaged in constriction work on the Hanford Atomic Energy Project.

Vermont had worked in most of the auxiliary organizations of the Church (Y.W.M.I.A.) Primary, Relief Society and at the present time is working as a Primary Teacher and a Block Teacher for the Relief Society in the Kennewick Ward.

Claris graduated from Arco High School at attended on year at Ricks College. She married Earl G. Jones of Rigby, Idaho, on December 15, 1948, at Arco, Idaho. In June of 1950 the marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. They have four children: Kurt Alan, Jan, Jeffrey Francis, and Cory Varnell. They live in Rigby, Idaho.

Ardeth graduated from Butte High School. She married Don L. Putnam of Arco, Idaho, on January 13, 1952. They were married in Arco. They have two children: Dana Marie and Michael D. They are making their home in Covina, California.

Rene graduated from Butte High School. She married Victor Gail Shaver in Arco on January 13, 1957. They were married in Arco and have four children, two of them being twin girls. They are: Lori Lyn, Lance Lamoine, Keri and Sheri. They are now living in Kennewick, Washington.

Nola graduated from Butte High School. She married Dale Merrill of Arco on October 31, 1960. She is now living in Covina, California.

      Zelda Catherine Boden was born on May 30, 1911 at Dayton, Franklin County, Idaho. She was the daughter of James Willard Boden and Clara Priscilla Hoopes. Zelda married Matthias Wood Merrill, son of Alma Merrill and Rebecca Hendricks, on Sep 17, 1932 at Logan, Cache County, Utah. Zelda Catherine Boden died on Oct 7, 1991 at Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, at age 80. Zelda was buried at Rose Hills Cemetery, Whittier, Los Angeles County, California.

      Lowell Charles Van Noy was born on Dec 5, 1900 at Riverdale, Franklin County, Idaho. He was the son of James Nathaniel Van Noy and Harriet Adelaide Lewis. Lowell married Ada Lavon Day, daughter of George Albert Day and Christine Marie Fransden, on Jun 20, 1923 at Logan, Cache County, Utah. Lowell married Venna Merrill, daughter of Alma Merrill and Almira Esmerilda Hendricks, on Jun 6, 1958. Lowell Charles Van Noy died on Oct 8, 1964 at age 63.

      Katherine Janoushek was born on Dec 14, 1916 at Decatur County, Kansas. She was the daughter of Albert Jonouskik and Katherine Benida. Katherine Janoushek was born on Dec 19, 1916 at Goodland, Sherman County, Kansas. Katherine married LeRoy Edwin Walton, son of Simeon Huff Walton and Ellen Elmira Hendricks, on Jul 3, 1934 at Fairfield, Camas County, Idaho.       Esty Geneva Preece was born on Dec 2, 1903 at Coveville, Cache County, Utah. She was the daughter of Mark Henry Preece and Charlotte Maria Gregory. Esty married Zeno Hadley Hendricks, son of John William Hendricks and Annie May Hadley, on Sep 17, 1924 at Utah. Esty Geneva Preece and Zeno Hadley Hendricks were divorced. Esty married George A. Hill. Esty Geneva Preece died on Dec 30, 1993 at age 90.
     She was also known as Geneva Preece.

Our loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Esty Geneva Preece Hill, 90, was called home Dec. 30, 1993, after a long illness that claimed her life but never broke her spirit.

She was born Dec. 2, 1903 in Cove, Utah, to Mark Henry Preece and Charlotte Maria Gregory. Geneva brought happiness and laughter into the lives of all she touched. All who knew her experienced the pure charity of Christ. Geneva's life was often wrought with insurmountable challenges which she faced and conquered with dignity, courage, and an optimistic spirit.Her time here was spent always in the service of others, and her life was a tribute to the Lord's admonition that we "love one another."

Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Hill. Survivors include daughter, Gloria Hendricks Orullian (husband Pete), Salt Lake City; sons, Eldon P. Hendricks, Sandy; Leon Ramshaw (wife Eydie), Longview, Wash; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. A son, Vaughn P. Hendricks, preceded her in death, along with her precious parents and eight siblings: Ellen Bowman, Phoebe Hatch, Lulu Parry, Lona Smith, Robert Preece, Golden Preece and Norris Preece, with whom she is enjoying a wonderful reunion.
