Fern married Willis Dunivan, son of Anderson Jackson Dunivan and Caroline Jane Cravens, on Dec 9, 1903. Fern Zebra McBee died on Nov 20, 1943 at Warren County, Indiana, at age 53. Fern was buried at Niccum Cemetery, Westville, Vermilion County, Illinois.
     She was also known as Zebra Fern McBee.

"In ill health for some time, Mrs. Fern Dunavan apparently ended her own life with a .32 caliber revolver about 6 A.M. Saturday at her farm home northeast of Danville on Poland Road according to Coroner John D. Cole.

The woman, 53, was the wife of Willis Dunavan, tenant of the farm of Judge Casper Platt near the Illinois-Indiana state line. Husband heard shot - Coroner Cole, who with Sheriff William E. Wayland and Deputy Sheriff Robert Mead, investigated the shooting, said that the husband told them he had got up and built a fire in the kitchen range and had then called to his wife. About that time he heard a report of a gun and entering the bedroom found his wife's body in bed.

The bullet had entered the right temple, apparently causing instant death. Mr. Dunavan went to the home of a neighbor to call the authorities and report the tragedy. The Dunavans had resided on the Platt farm for nine years.

Coroner Plans Inquiry - Coroner Cole said he would hold an inquiry into the death. In addition to the husband, Mrs. Dunavan is survived by six children: Mrs. Opal Jones, Covington Route 2; Mrs. Mildred Richards, Danville; Ralph Dunavan, Kingman, Indiana; Mrs. Iva Chrisman, Alvin Rout 1; Mrs. Eva Story, Danville; and Betty Lue Dunavan at home. Also surviving are Mrs. Dunavan's mother, Mrs. Molly Hays of Perrysville, and two sisters, Mrs. Rella Depriest, Danville and Mrs. Stella Collins, Evansville, as well as six grandchildren.

Mrs. Dunavan was born at Clinton, Indiana, March 14, 1890, daughter of Albert and Molly McBee. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Monday at Union Corner Church with the pastor officiating, after a short funeral services at the home at 1 P.M. Burial will be in the Niccum Cemetery, near Perrysville, with Shelby Funeral Home of Covington in charge."

      Willis Dunivan was born on Aug 20, 1886 at Vermilion County, Illinois. He was the son of Anderson Jackson Dunivan and Caroline Jane Cravens. Willis married Fern Zebra McBee, daughter of Albert Francis McBee and Mary Jane Young, on Dec 9, 1903. Willis Dunivan died on Jan 7, 1944 at Kankakee County, Illinois, at age 57. Willis was buried at Niccum Cemetery, Westville, Vermilion County, Illinois.

      Opal Bertha Dunivan was born on Apr 2, 1906 at Georgetown, Vermilion County, Illinois. She was the daughter of Willis Dunivan and Fern Zebra McBee. Opal married Roy Parnel Jones on Oct 19, 1929. Opal married Howard A. Dice, son of Clifford G. Dice and Tressa L. Duffin, on Jan 17, 1981. Opal Bertha Dunivan died on Apr 7, 2003 at Woodland Manor Nursing Home, Attica, Fountain County, Indiana, at age 97. Opal was buried at Mount Hope Cemetery, Covington, Fountain County, Indiana.
     

Opal B. Jones Dice, 97, of Covington, died at 5:50 P.M. Monday (April 7, 2003) at Woodland Manor Nursing Center in Attica. She was born April 2, 1906, at Georgetown, Illinois, the daughter of Willis and Fern McBee Dunavan. Opal married Roy P. Jones October 19, 1929, and he died March 24, 1958. She married Howard Dice January 17, 1981, and he died April 30, 1995.

She graduated from Oakwood (Ill.) High School. A resident of Covington most of her life, she also resided at Bismark, Illinois. Opal and Roy operated the Covington Food Lockers several years. She was a bookkeeper at Covington Implement Company and Carson, Pirie, Scott & Company. Her memberships included Walnut Corner and Troy Chapter #145 OES.

Surviving is a son, Jack (Patricia) Jones of Covington; three step-sons, Don and Dan Dice, both of Bismark, Ronald Dice in Colorado; stepdaughter, Charlotte Quick of Bismark; two sisters, Eva Storey of Covington and Betty (Jack) Weller of Oakwood; two daughters-in-law, Darene Jones of Covington and Betty (Darrell) Maxwell of Monticello, Indiana; 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Two sons, Elza and Ace, also preceded her in death.

Roy Parnel Jones died on Mar 20, 1958 at age 46. Roy was buried at Mount Hope Cemetery, Covington, Fountain County, Indiana.

COVINGTON -- Jack Lee Jones, 75, of rural Covington, died at 7:45 a. m. Monday, Sept. 19, 2005, in Williamsport Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born Jan. 16, 1930, in Attica. He was a resident of Covington most of his life, and a 1948 graduate of Covington High School. He attended Salem United Methodist Church.

Mr. Jones was employed at Harrison Steel for 38 years, retiring in 1995. He was a beekeeper for 20 years and a former Indiana State Bee Inspector. His memberships include: Indiana Bee Keepers and Eagles Lodge at Attica.

His marriage was to Patricia Lewis on Dec. 5, 1964. She survives.

Also surviving are a son Jack Roy Jones (wife: Madge), of Genesco, Ill; four daughters, Goyita Young (husband: Richard) of Crawfordsville; Madeana White (husband: Russell) of Williamsport; Melody Jones of Covington and Buffy Thomas (husband: Troy) of Fort Wayne.

Services are Thursday in Covington.

      Elza Kenneth Jones was born on Mar 18, 1932 at Warren County, Indiana. He was the son of Roy Parnel Jones and Opal Bertha Dunivan. Elza married Darene J. Vyse on Jul 31, 1953. Elza Kenneth Jones died on Jul 14, 1980 at Vermilion County, Illinois, at age 48. Elza was buried at Mount Hope Cemetery, Covington, Fountain County, Indiana.
     

Elza Kenneth Jones of RR 2, Covington, age 48, died Monday morning, July 14, in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, Illinois. He was born at Williamsport, March 18, 1932, the son of Roy Purnell and Opal Dunavan Jones. July 31, 1953, he married Darene J. Vyse, who survives.

A member of Benson Chapel United Methodist Church, he was a 1951 graduate of Covington High School and had been employed at Illinois Power Company in Danville for 29 years.

Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Linda Massey of Covington and Rita at home; a son, Brad at home; his mother of Danville, Illinois; two brothers, Jack of RR 3, Covington, and Ace "Cappy" of Clarks Hill; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington with Rev. Robert H. Miller officiating. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery at Covington.

     Darene married Elza Kenneth Jones, son of Roy Parnel Jones and Opal Bertha Dunivan, on Jul 31, 1953.

      Ace Leon Jones was born on Sep 25, 1943 at Williamsport, Warren County, Indiana. He was the son of Roy Parnel Jones and Opal Bertha Dunivan. Ace married Betty Kinslow on Mar 7, 1965. Ace Leon Jones died on Feb 7, 1993 at Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana, at age 49.
     

Ace Leon "Cappy" Jones, 49, of Clarks Hill, Indiana died at 6:22 P.M. Sunday (February 7, 1993) at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis. Born September 25, 1943, in Williamsport, son of Roy P. and Opal Dunavan Jones. He graduated from Covington High School in 1961. He was resident of Lafayette, Indiana, 22 years, where he was employed by Wolohann and Wicks Lumber Companies. He moved to Atlanta, Georgia, in 1987, before moving to Clarks Hill in November 1992. He was a member of the Clarks Hill Christian Church, Masonic Lodge and a past mast, OES and was a past worthy patron, pop of the Rainbow Girls, and Stonewall's Dance Club.
He married Betty Kinslow March 7, 1965, in Clarks Hill. Survived by his wife; two daughters, Glynis (Rick) Watkins of Hiland, California, and Linnette Jones of Marietta, Georgia; a son, Jeffrey (Gena) Jones of Dayton, Indiana; his mother and stepfather, Opal and Howard Dice of Bismark; a brother, Jack L. (Patricia) Jones of Covington Route 3; a stepsister, Charlotte Quick of Danville; three stepbrothers, Ronald (Mary E.) Dice of Littleton, Colorado, Donald (Shirley) Dice and Daniel (Linda) Dice, both of Bismark; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his father and a brother, Elza.

      Howard A. Dice was born on Jul 16, 1911 at Hoopeston, Vermilion County, Illinois. He was the son of Clifford G. Dice and Tressa L. Duffin. Howard married Opal Bertha Dunivan, daughter of Willis Dunivan and Fern Zebra McBee, on Jan 17, 1981. Howard A. Dice died on Apr 30, 1995 at Danville, Vermilion County, Illinois, at age 83. Howard was buried at Walnut Corner Cemetery, Danville, Vermilion County, Illinois.
     

Howard A. Dice, 83, of Covington and formerly of the Bismark, Illinois area, died at 6:36 P.M. Sunday (April 30, 1995) at USMC, Logan Campus. He was born in Hoopeston, Illinois on July 16, 1911, the son of Clifford G. and Tressa L. Duffin Dice.

He had lived in Covington for the past two years. Prior to that he farmed in the Hoopeston and Rossville, Illinois areas and then for 39 years in the Bismark, Illinois area. After he retired from farming, he checked on his sons in the field and brought them soda pop and candy bars to them. He was a member of the Walnut Corner Church of Christ and had served as deacon. Also a member of the Bismark Lions Club and the former Detective Association.

He married Vera Weaver on March 11, 1937. She died February 12, 1978. He then married Opal Jones on January 17, 1981, in Bismark. Survivors include: his wife, one daughter, Charlotte Quick of Bismark; three sons, Ronald (Mary) Dice of Littleton, Colorado, Donald (Shirley) Dice of Bismark and Daniel (Linda) Dice of Bismark; eight grandchildren, Annette (Tim) Fleck of Fort Shaffer, Hawaii, Bryon (Joann) Quick of Moody Air Force Base, Georgia, Duane Dice of Edgewood, Colorado, Jarrod Dice of Potomac, Christina Dice of Bismark, Danella Dice of Springfield, Illinois, and Dale Dice of Bismark; three great-grandsons, Michael, Robert and Jason; one step great-grandson, Brian Long; one stepson, Jack (Pat) Jones of Covington; 11 step grandchildren, 18 step great grandchildren; a brother, Harold (Geneva) Dice of Hoopeston; three sister, Maxine Wiese of Genoa, Illinois, Margene (Carl) Echard of Wellington, Illinois, and Nadine Odle of Hoopeston; several nieces and nephews. Mildred married Theodore Richards, son of Richard Richards and Mary Wright, on Nov 27, 1934 at Danville, Vermilion County, Illinois. Mildred married William Frederick Sydes, son of Frederick S. Sydes and Anna Humphries, in 1968. Mildred Agnes Dunivan died on Oct 2, 1994 at Danville, Vermilion County, Illinois, at age 85.
     

Mildred A. Sydes, 85, of Danville, passed away at 7:35 P.M. Sunday (October 2, 1994) at USMC, Logan Campus. She was born December 18, 1908, in Gessie, Indiana, the daughter of Willis and Fern McBee Dunavan. She married Theodore Richards November 27, 1934. He preceded her May 3, 1966. She later married William F. Sydes in 1968. He preceded her February 12, 1974. Surviving: three sisters, Mrs. Opal (Howard) Dice of Covington, Indiana, Eva Story of Covington, Indiana, and Mrs. Betty (Jack) Weller of Oakwood; several brothers and sister-in-law, Oswald (Isabel) Chrisman of Bismark, Joe (Laura) Williams of Westville, Harry (Josie) Sydes of Scottsdale, Arizona, Margy Sizelove of Connersville, Indiana, Ellen Sydes of Lafayette, Indiana, and Ellen Dunavan of Danville; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.

She was employed at Musebeck Shoe Company, Danville Jacket, Kinney Shoe Store, A & P Grocery, and Mildred Leverenz Drapery. She also did domestic work for many years. She was a very active member of the Danville United Church of Christ. She also belonged to the Danville Women's Club and Danville Chapter of Eastern Star, of which she was a past worthy matron and a 50 year plus member. She was also a member of the Bismark Thimble Club and Bismark Keenagers. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, crafts of all kinds, and she especially enjoyed helping people.

      Theodore Richards was born on Feb 23, 1909 at Newcastle, Shropshire, England. He was the son of Richard Richards and Mary Wright. Theodore married Mildred Agnes Dunivan, daughter of Willis Dunivan and Fern Zebra McBee, on Nov 27, 1934 at Danville, Vermilion County, Illinois. Theodore Richards died on May 3, 1966 at Danville, Vermilion County, Illinois, at age 57. Theodore was buried at Spring Hill Cemetery and Mausoleum, Danville, Vermilion County, Illinois.
     

Theodore (Ted) Richards, 56, of 408 Chester, died at 3:30 A.M. today (May 3, 1966) in Lake View Memorial where he had been a patient seven hours. He had been bedfast since March 30 and in ill health for two years. Born February 23, 1910, in Newcastle, England, he was a son of Richard and Mary Wright Richards. He had resided at the Chester address seven years.

He came to Danville at the age of seven and attended Collett and Danville High. He had been employed since the age of 16 as a garment cutter at the Rissman Garment Company, now the Windbreaker Company. He last worked on March 29. He was married November 27, 1934, in Danville to Mildred A. Dunavan who survives. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Frances Marion of Danville. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Richards was a member of Anchor Masonic Lodge, St. James Methodist Church, Danville Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Danville Elks Lodge and the Amalgamated Garment Makers Union. His hobbies were bowling and golf.

Friends will be received at the Pape Memorial Home 7-9 tonight and 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Wednesday. Services will be at 2 P.M. Thursday at St. James Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Curry officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church at noon Thursday.

      William Frederick Sydes was born on Jul 16, 1911 at Universal, Vermilion County, Indiana. He was the son of Frederick S. Sydes and Anna Humphries. William married Mildred Agnes Dunivan, daughter of Willis Dunivan and Fern Zebra McBee, in 1968. William Frederick Sydes died on Feb 12, 1974 at Danville, Vermilion County, Illinois, at age 62. William was buried at Sunset Memorial Park, Danville, Vermilion County, Illinois.
     

William F. Sydes, 62, of 26 Dixie Acres, died about 9 this morning (February 13, 1974) at Lake View Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for 18 hours. He had suffered a heart attack while at work Tuesday.

He had been a self-employed commercial floor sander until 1970, when he went to work for the Danville Veterans Administration Hospital. He was born July 16, 1911, in Indiana, the son of Frederick S. and Anna Humphries Sydes. He was first married to Lola Wyant, who preceded him in death. He later married Mildred A. Richards, and she survives.

Also surviving are three brothers, Enoch of Lafayette, Indiana, Leigh B. of Gary, Indiana, and Harry L. of Westville; and two sisters, Mrs. Joe (Laura) Williams of Westville and Mrs. David (Margaret) Sizelove of Connersville, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a member of Grace Methodist Church, Olive Branch Masonic Lodge 38, the Danville Scottish Rite, Ansar Shrine, Danville Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star, and Danville Elks Lodge 332.

Services will be at 1:30 P.M. Friday at the Pape Memorial Home. Visitation will be from 3:30-5 and 7-9 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home, and burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

      Ralph Willis Dunivan was born on Aug 21, 1912 at Hoopeston, Vermilion County, Illinois. He was the son of Willis Dunivan and Fern Zebra McBee. Ralph married Ellen E. Story, daughter of George Story and Hazel Makemson, on Mar 29, 1938. Ralph Willis Dunivan died on May 25, 1994 at Danville, Vermilion County, Illinois, at age 81. Ralph was buried at Walnut Corner Cemetery, Danville, Vermilion County, Illinois.
     

Ralph W. Dunavan, 81, of State Line, Indiana died at 6:36 A.M. Wednesday (May 25, 1994) at USMC, Logan Campus, Danville. He was born August 21, 1912, near Hoopeston, the son of Willis and Fern McBee Dunavan. He had lived in the State Line area for the past 40 years and attend the Bismark schools. He retired in 1982 from the State Line Elevator and had had also farmed. He enjoyed riding horses, gardening and reading. He loved his family dearly.

He was a member of the Bismark Lions Club, the State Line Fire Department and Western Riders Saddle Club. He was married March 28, 1938, to Ellen E. Story, southeast of Bismark. She survives. Survivors include: one daughter, Mary Jo (Marvin) McDonald of Bismark; two sons, Dan (Katy) of Bismark and Don (Sondra) of Danville Route 3; four sisters, Opal Dice of Covington, Indiana, Mildred Sydes of Danville, Eva Story of Covington, Indiana, and Betty Weller of Oakwood; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Iva Chrisman, and his parents. Funeral services: 10 A.M. Friday at Morrison Funeral Home in Bismark; Officiating: Rev.       Ellen E. Story was born on Feb 16, 1916 at Danville, Vermilion County, Illinois. She was the daughter of George Story and Hazel Makemson. Ellen married Ralph Willis Dunivan, son of Willis Dunivan and Fern Zebra McBee, on Mar 29, 1938. Ellen E. Story died on Jul 20, 2005 at Danville, Vermilion County, Illinois, at age 89. Ellen was buried at Walnut Corner Cemetery, Danville, Vermilion County, Illinois.
     

Ellen E. Dunavan, 89, of Danville, died at 11:18 a.m. Wednesday (July 20, 2005) at the Hawthorne Inn in Danville. She was born Feb. 16, 1916, in Danville, the daughter of George and Hazel Makemson Story.

She and her late husband, Ralph, had lived and farmed in State Line and Bismarck area for many years. She graduated in 1935 from Danville High School and was retired from General Electric. She enjoyed crocheting and playing cards. She was married March 28, 1938, to Ralph Dunavan, southeast of Bismarck. He died May 25, 1994.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Jo (Marvin) McDonald of Danville; two sons, Dan (Katie) Dunavan of Bismarck and Don Dunavan of Danville Route 3: one sister, Hazel (Bob) Livesay of Arizona; and six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by four brothers, one sister and one daughter-in-law, Sondra Dunavan.

Iva E. Chrisman, 73, 311 Center, Bismark, died at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, September 3, 1987, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Danville, Illinois. She was in failing health the past five years and seriously ill the past six weeks. She was born June 19, 1914, in Eugene, the daughter of Willis and Fern McBee Dunavan. She had lived on the Walnut Corner Road 21 years and the past 26 years had lived on Center Street in Bismark. She was married June 16, 1934, to Oswald "Ossie"Chrisman of Bismark, who survives.

She was a graduate of Bismark High School and had worked at Musebeck's Shoe Factory for four years. She and her husband owned and operated the Chrisman's Grocery Store in Bismark for 21 years. She enjoyed working with needlework.

She was a member of the Walnut Corner Church of Christ, the Bismark Thimble Club, Keenagers of Bismark, and Christian Woman's Club. She was a member and enjoyed the Illiana Antique Auto Club.

Surviving, besides her husband, are two sons, Gerald F. (Sandy) Chrisman, Bismark and Rodger A. (Janet) Chrisman, Danville; four grandson, Bryan, Lance, Tom and Ron; four sisters, Mrs. Howard (Opal) Dice, Bismark, Mrs. Mildred Sydes, Danville, Mrs. Eva Story, Covington, and Mrs. Jack (Betty) Weller, Oakwood; and a brother, Ralph Dunavan, State Line.

      Oswald A. Crisman was born on Aug 31, 1911 at Grape Creek, Vermilion County, Illinois. He was the son of George T. Crisman and Goldie O. Wilson. Oswald married Iva Estella Dunivan, daughter of Willis Dunivan and Fern Zebra McBee, on Jun 16, 1934. Oswald A. Crisman died on Dec 20, 1996 at Bismark, Vermilion County, Illinois, at age 85. Oswald A. 'Ossie' Chrisman, 85, of Bismark, passed away at 4:03 A.M. Friday (December 20, 1996) at his residence. He was born August 31, 1911, in Grape Creek, Illinois, the son of George T. and Goldie O. Wilson Chrisman. He married Iva E. Dunavan on June 16, 1934. She preceded him in death September 7, 1987. He later married Isabel Meeker on February 14, 1990, in Danville. She survives. Also surviving: a son, Rodger A. (Janet) Chrisman of Peoria, Arizona; a sister, Mabel Smith of Danville; four grandsons, Bryan Chrisman of Bismark, Tom Chrisman and Ron Chrisman, both of Peoria, Arizona, and Lance Chrisman of Edwardsville, Illinois. He also was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Gerald F. Chrisman, who died on May 9, 1995.

Ossie formerly farmed in the Alvin-Bismark area and owned and operated Chrisman Grocery in Bismark for 21 years and later served as a member of the Vermilion County Board of Review for 17 years, retiring in 1990.

He was a member of the Walnut Corner Chruch of Christ in Bismark. He was charter member of the Bismark Lions Club, a charter member of the Bismark Fire Department and a charter member of the Illiana Antique Auto Club. He enjoyed gardening, antique automobiles and attending high school athletic events.

      Gerald Francis Crisman was born on Dec 13, 1941 at Danville, Vermilion County, Illinois. He was the son of Oswald A. Crisman and Iva Estella Dunivan. Gerald married Sandy Davis on Sep 10, 1961. Gerald married Patricia Vanriette on Oct 9, 1993 at Rossville, Vermilion County, Illinois. Gerald Francis Crisman died on May 9, 1995 at Vermilion County, Illinois, at age 53. Gerald was buried at Sunset Memorial Park, Danville, Vermilion County, Illinois.
     

Gerald F. Chrisman, 53, of Danville, passed away at 2 P.M. Tuesday (May 9, 1995) in Danville. He was born December 13, 1941, in Danville, the son of Oswald A. and Iva E. Dunavan Chrisman. He married Patricia Vanriette on October 9, 1993, in Rossville. She survives. He had formerly been married to Sandy Davis, whom he married September 10, 1961. She also survives.

Also surviving: his father and stepmother, Oswald A. (Isabel) Chrisman of Bismark; two sons, Bryan and Lance Chrisman, both of Bismark; a brother, Rodger (Janet) Chrisman of Peoria, Arizona; and two nephews, Ron and Tom Chrisman, both of Glendale, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his mother.

Jerry was a graduate of Bismark High School. He had formerly worked at Second National Bank. He was currently chief probation officer for Vermilion County, where he had been employed for 26 years. He was one of the founders of the Illinois State Probation Association. He was previously active with the Young Republicans, Big Brother/Big Sisters, and the Danville Jaycees. He was also a 33rd Degree Mason. He was currently on the American Red Cross and a member of the Bismark Lions Club. He was also a member of the Second Church of Christ. He enjoyed horses and was a charter member of the Illiana Antique Auto Club.

Eva M. Story, 90, of Covington, passed this life to be with the Lord at 11:20 a.m. EST Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, at The Waters of Covington, where she had resided for the past eight years.

She was born April 27, 1917, near Cayuga, the daughter of the late Willis (Boss) and Fern (McBee) Dunavan. When she was 19 years old, they moved to State Line. That is where she lived when she graduated from high school. She then moved out of her home and lived with her sister, Iva.

She married Perry G. Story on Jan. 1, 1940. He preceded her in death on July 12, 1978. Also, her one and only son preceded her in death on Oct. 6, 2003, in Covington; her three sisters, Iva, Mildred and Opal, also preceded her, along with her brother, Ralph. One sister, Betty Lou Willer, also survived her, along with Hazel and Bob Linesay of Arizona. She, as said by Hazel, was more like a sister to her. She is also survived by two granddaughters, one grandson and six great-grandchildren.

Eva was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Covington.

Eva’s own words were: “The highest price that I could give, and all of my heart was heavy. The tears flowed down. I know you could say you could hear my soft, still voice saying, “Don’t cry for me.” Just remember the love we all shared and the beautiful memories we have. I know I am in a better place. God and Jesus loved me.

As per Eva’s wishes, a private family service was held Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at Sunset’s Covington Chapel, graveside services following at Spring Hill Cemetery. Pastor Paul Kent was the officiant.

Story, 60, of 1614 E. Voorhees died at 8:45 A.M. Wednesday (July 12, 1978) at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, where he had been a patient since July 4. He had been in failing health the past year. The Rev. William Molloy will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Story had worked in communications for the police department since July, 1962. In September 1976 he was named communications specialist supervisor for the Danville Public Building Commission, which oversees operation of the Public Safety Building.

"He was tremendously popular with the police officers," Vic Vanesse, director of communications at the PSB, said. "Because he had been here such a long time he was 'dad' to many of the guys, especially some of the younger ones who worked with him as cadets and are now police officers. He was really a swell fellow."

Prior to beginning work at the police department, Story owned the Covington Food Locker from January 1960 to July 1962. He also worked for Coca-Cola Bottling Company in advertising and distribution for 10 years; as a machinist for the C&EI Railroad; and as a welder at the former Neff Concrete Products.

He attended Roselawn and Cannon grade schools and was graduated from Danville High in 1936. He was a member of the Salty Sam camping club, Teamster Local 26 and the Municipality Illinois Retirement Federation. His hobbies were camping and fishing.

      Wendall Lee Story was born on May 29, 1942 at Danville, Vermilion County, Illinois. He was the son of Perry George Story and Eva M. Dunivan. Wendall married Carolyn Joan Holt on Jun 16, 1963 at Covington, Fountain County, Indiana. Wendall Lee Story died on Oct 6, 2003 at Covington, Fountain County, Illinois, at age 61. Wendall was buried at Mount Hope Cemetery, Covington, Fountain County, Indiana.
     

COVINGTON, Ind. - Wendall Lee Story, 61, of Covington, passed away Monday morning (Oct. 6, 2003) at his home. He was born May 29, 1942, in Vermilion County, Ill., the son of Perry George and Eva Marie Dunavan Story. He was a 1960 graduate of Bismarck High School in Bismarck, Ill. He married Carolyn Joan Holt on June 16, 1963, at Covington. He has been a resident of Covington for 38 years.

He was an employee of County Market in Towne Centre in Danville, Ill., for the past four years and had been in the meat cutting profession for 38 years. Niemann Foods employed him for 10 years.
His hobbies were woodworking and spending time with his grandkids. He loved making anything out of wood. He also enjoyed flea marketing at Janet's in Veedersburg for several years.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; three children, Lesa (Terry) Epperson of Covington, Christy (Marty) LaFoe of Covington and Jason (Becky) Story of Veedersburg; grandchildren, Trenton and Alena Epperson, Sarah and Marissa LaFoe, Ryan and Dolton Story; his mother, Eva Story of Covington. His father, Perry Story, preceded him in death.
