      Elva White was born on Apr 10, 1892 at Ogden, Weber County, Utah. She was the daughter of Bernard John White and Mary Ann Nelson. Elva married Letho Thorn Pond, son of Joseph Thorn Pond and Amanda Malissa Hendricks, on Mar 19, 1913 at Logan, Cache County, Utah. Elva White died on Jan 28, 1985 at Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah, at age 92. Elva was buried at Thatcher, Franklin County, Idaho.

     Bernard married Mary Ann Nelson.

      Allene Pond was born on Dec 26, 1913 at Thatcher, Franklin County, Idaho. She was the daughter of Letho Thorn Pond and Elva White. Allene married Ceylon Hogan.

      Harry L. Stout was born circa Nov, 1889 at Iowa. He was the son of Frank Deming Stout and Clara Wales.

      Caleita Stout was born circa 1895 at Iowa. She was the daughter of Frank Deming Stout and Clara Wales.

      Allison B. Stout was born circa 1903 at Illinois. He was the son of Frank Deming Stout and Clara Wales.

      Frank Deming Stout Jr. was born on Aug 10, 1920 at Glencoe, Cook County, Illinois. He was the son of Frank Deming Stout and Clara Wales. Frank Deming Stout Jr. died on Jun 23, 1998 at Queen of the Valley Hospital, Napa, Napa County, California, at age 77. Frank was buried at Rosehill Cemetery, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.
     

Frank D. Stout II, popular Napa Valley philanthropist and patron of the arts, died June 23 at Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa after a nine-month battle with cancer. He was 77.

Mr. Stout was a major collector of and expert in Japanese art whose contributions to Bay Area cultural institutions were abundant, diverse and always accomplished quietly, without fanfare.

His biggest beneficiary in the Napa Valley, both as an individual and through the Kemper Educational and Charitable Fund of Chicago, was the new Napa Valley Museum in Yountville, where he was a past president and the current chairman of the board of trustees.

It was his ``greatest joy,'' he said, that he could be present for the museum's official opening in January.

Some of the many other institutions he supported were the San Francisco Opera, the Merola Opera Program, the Santa Fe Opera and the Lyric Opera of Chicago, where he underwrote a 1996 staging of Vincenzo Bellini's ``Norma.''

In 1991, he made a major donation of his collection of Japanese art to the Seattle Asian Art Museum, where it is now on permanent display.

He was on the board of directors of the Society of Asian Art in San Francisco, and he was an active member of the Bohemian Club.

Frank Deming Stout II, scion of a leading Wisconsin lumber-industry family, was born in 1920 in Glencoe, Ill. In 1927, Mr. Stout's father died, and four years later his mother married James S. Kemper of the Kemper Insurance Co. of Chicago.

Mr. Stout graduated from the Hotchkiss School, a prestigious private boarding and college preparatory school in Connecticut, and from Cornell University, where he earned his degree in architecture.

In 1942, he entered the Navy and served as an officer in the South Pacific and in the occupation forces in Japan, which precipitated his lifelong interest in Asian art.

After his discharge as a lieutenant in 1946, he moved to San Francisco and attended the Rudolph Schaeffer School of Design.

In 1950, he opened an interior design business, the House of Design in San Mateo. He later opened two other design studios in Palo Alto and Menlo Park.

He was a past president of the Peninsula chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers and was elected a Fellow by the National Board.

In 1974, Mr. Stout moved to the Napa Valley, where he opened the Sky Hawk Gallery in St. Helena, specializing in art and gifts from Japan and other parts of Asia.

The last of his family line, Mr. Stout will be interred at Rosehill Cemetery in Chicago. There will be a memorial celebration of his life at the Napa Valley Museum on August 15. For further details, call the museum at (707) 944-0500, ext. 106.

      James Scott Kemper was born on Nov 18, 1886 at Van Wert, Van Wert County, Ohio. James married Clara Wales in 1931. James Scott Kemper died on Nov 17, 1981 at Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, at age 94.
     

Insurance icon. Kemper also served as an Illinois delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1936, 1940, 1944, 1948, and 1952. He was the treasurer of the Republican National Committee from 1944 to 1946, and the U.S. Ambassador to Brazil, from 1953 to 1955. He established the Lumberman's Mutual Casualty Company, the predecessor of the Kemper Insurance Companies.

      Evelyn Deming Daugherty was born on Sep 15, 1878 at Dubuque, Dubuque County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Abel Wood Daugherty and Jennie E. Stout. Evelyn married Dr. Otto Jacob Stein M.D., son of Herman Stein and Barbara (Unknown), on Apr 29, 1902. Evelyn Deming Daugherty died on Apr 4, 1961 at White Plains, Westchester County, New York, at age 82.

      Dr. Otto Jacob Stein M.D. was born on Aug 8, 1867 at Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie County, Iowa. He was the son of Herman Stein and Barbara (Unknown). Otto married Evelyn Deming Daugherty, daughter of Abel Wood Daugherty and Jennie E. Stout, on Apr 29, 1902. Dr. Otto Jacob Stein M.D. died in Oct, 1938 at Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California, at age 71.
