Our beloved mother and grandmother passed away January 20, 2009 in Salt Lake City, Utah of causes incident to age.Twila was born April 9, 1916 in St. Charles, Idaho to Amasa R. and Carrie Merrill Linford. She attended East High School and the University of Utah where she received her teaching certificate.

She married Erwin Henderson, July 2, 1937. They were married 67 years before he died July 10, 2004.

Twila lived in Downey, Idaho for most of her adult life where she taught first grade for 27 years. She moved to Salt Lake in 2005 and resided at Millcreek Retirement Residence and Alta Ridge Assisted Living. The family wishes to thank the staff of these two facilities for their tender loving care.

She is survived by her children: Linford (JoAnn) Salt Lake City, Joan (Clarence) Funk, San Diego, CA and Paul (Janet) Murrieta, CA, ten grandchildren, thirty four great grandchildren and eleven great- great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by infant son, Grant, husband, Erwin, her brother and three sisters and their spouses.

Funeral services will be held at Downey, Idaho 1st Ward, Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 12:00 noon with a viewing one hour prior to the services. Internment will be in the Downey, Idaho Cemetery.

Nelda Empey Linford 1924 ~ 2008 Nelda Empey Linford, our loving and cherished mother passed away on the morning of May 19, 2008 after a prolonged illness.She was born April 19, 1924 to Arthur Empey Jr. and Mary Ann Morgan Empey in View, Idaho. Nelda was raised on a small farm in View and graduated from Burley High School in 1942. She moved to Salt Lake to attend LDS Business College and met Merrill Linford, a young returned missionary, at a church dance. After a whirlwind courtship, mostly through the mail, she married Merrill, her sweetheart soldier, in the Salt Lake Temple on June 1, 1944. Merrill and Nelda had four treasured children: Marilyn, Joe, Mark, and Patty.

Nelda had a strong work ethic. She was the "ice cream lady" at Fernwoods for 18 years where she managed several stores. She was always happy to serve others being actively involved in PTA, Aurora Club and other charities. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she faithfully served in various callings such as Relief Society president, temple worker and missionary in the Hawaiian Islands. Most dear to her heart were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She never forgot a birthday, wedding, graduation or special event. She loved family gatherings, trips with her girls, and flowers. Nelda is preceded in death by her husband, Merrill, and her sister Genevieve Grafft. She is survived by her four children: Marilyn, Joseph (Loni), Mark (Gayle) and Patricia. She will be missed by her 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Donna Whitaker. A viewing will be held Wed., May 21st at the Midway Stake Center (165 N. Center) from 6-8 p.m. Services, Thurs., May 22nd at 1:30 p.m. at the Midway Stake Center with a viewing from 12-1 p.m. Interment will be at the Midway City Cemetery. Our daughter, Arlene Merrill Cravens was born May 5, 1921 in Richmond, Utah. She was educated in the schools of San Berandino, California, graduating from the San Bernardino High School and also from the Beauty College in the city. She married Glenn Faggen Rust on September 15, 1940, in San Bernardino, California. Two children were born to this marriage: Baby Girl Rust, July 17, 1946, who was stillborn, and Judith Ann Rust, on July 17, 1946. Judith attends the Eisenhower High School in San Bernardino and is a member of the Rainbow Girls. Glenn owns and operates a dental Laboratory in that city. Arlene owned and operated a Beauty Shop for many years. She sold it in 1959. She is now assisting Glenn with his business.

Our son LeRoy Kayl Cravens was born in Richmond, Utah, on February 9, 1925. He attended the schools in San Bernardino, California, and then enlisted in the Untied States Navy on March 10, 1942. He became a Seaman First Class and was attached to the U.S.S. Missouri, at the time of the signing of the Treaty between the Allies and Japan in August 1945. He was discharged March 6, 1946. He graduated from San Bernardino Jr. College, he then attended the University of California at Santa Barbara and graduated form the Sacramento State College with a B.A. Degree in Economics in 1954. He had since done some work toward his Master’s Degree. He is a member of Eureka Lodge #16 F&A M in Auburn, California where he is now residing, and is also a member of the United Commercial Travelers. He is engaged in Life Insurance and Real Estate.

He married Muriel Laan of New York City on August 11, 1946. She was born in New York City, New York on May 19, 1927 and attended the schools of that city. She graduated from the Sierra College in Auburn in 1958, and Sacramento City College School of Nursing on June 15, 1962.

To this marriage two children have been born: Carol Lee Cravens, October 23, 1947, insane Bernardino, California. She is now attending Placer High School in Auburn and is a member of Job’s Daughters.
Peter LeRoy Cravens was born March 25, 1951, in Sacramento, California. He is attending grade school in Auburn and is a member of the Boy Scouts of America.
