TONKAWA -- Charles E. "Ed" Cook, Tonkawa resident, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 10, 2004, at Via Christi Oklahoma Regional Medical Center in Ponca City. He was 86.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13 at First Baptist Church, 212 N. Main, in Tonkawa with the Rev. Mark Serviss officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery in Tonkawa under the direction of Dugger Funeral Home of Tonkawa.

Charles E. "Ed" Cook was born July 4, 1918, in Cherryvale, Kan., the son of Charles L. and Bertha M. Hackler Cook. He grew up and attended school in Cherryvale, Kan., before joining the Army. He married Wilda Rambow on Oct. 25, 1945, in Cherryvale, Kan. They made their home in Hays, Kan., for 50 years before moving to Tonkawa in 1998.

He was employed by Service Pipeline Company from 1946 until 1962 and the Pepsi Cola Company in the 1960s. He was a custodian at Fort Hays State University in Kansas during the 1970s until his retirement in 1983. During the early 1960s he became the custodian of the First Baptist Church in Hays, Kan., and continued in that service until the mid-1990s. He also served as a deacon for the church for many years.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Wilda Cook; three sons, Kenneth J. Cook of Kansas City, Kan., Fred C. Cook of Cincinnati, Ohio, and George E. Cook of Tonkawa; a daughter, Carol R. Grover of Lancaster, Calif; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Wilda Marie Cook, 82, Tonkawa, Okla., formerly of Hays, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, at Willow Haven Nursing Home, Tonkawa, Okla.

She was born Dec. 9, 1924, in Cherryvale to Fred and Lulu (Brooks) Rambow. She graduated from Cherryvale and cosmetology school in 1945.

She married Charles "Ed" Cook Oct. 25, 1945, in Cherryvale. He preceded her in death Nov. 10, 2004. She opened an upholstery shop in Hays in 1962, prior to retirement.

Survivors include three sons, Kenneth J. Cook and wife, Doris, of Kansas City, Kan., Fred C. Cook, Cincinnati, and George Cook and wife, Amanda, Tonkawa, Okla; a daughter, Carol R. Grover and husband, Bill, Lancaster, Calif; a brother, Clyde Rambow, Colorado Springs, Colo; a sister, Leota Davis, Wichita; seven grandchildren, James Cook and wife, Dolores, Wichita, John and Rachel Cook, Kansas City, Kan., Adam and Bridget Grover, Lancaster, Calif., Timothy Cook and wife, Lydia, Granite City, Ill., and Zachary Cook and wife, Briana, Tonkawa, Okla; two great-grandchildren, Brianna and Caedmon Cook; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, James Rambow and Kenneth Rambow; and two sisters, Alice Swayze and Evelyn Clark.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Tonkawa Funeral Home Chapel; burial in Riverview Cemetery, Tonkawa, Okla.
