Virginia May Allen, age 91, a former resident of the Highrise Apartments, Fort Scott, died Wednesday, July 01, 2009, at Medicalodge of Fort Scott. She was born September 17, 1917, in Billings, Missouri, the daughter of Clyde Phillips and Jennie Kelley Phillips, and has been a resident of Fort Scott nearly all her adult life. Virginia taught cosmetology at Fort Scott Community College for a short while and owned her own beauty shop for many years. She also was employed for a period at the Western Insurance Company in the accounting department. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was first married to Hubert R. Stanley. They later divorced. She married Robert E. Lee Parsons. He preceded her in death. She married Ernest Marvin Allen on October 31, 1979. He preceded her in death on September 14, 1997.

Survivors include a daughter, Gloria Dalton and husband Ed, Olathe, Kansas; and three grandchildren, Suzanne Hughes, Brenda Douglas, and Greg Dalton. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren and a special friend, John Skiles. She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Penny Wicken, two brothers, Louis Bunn and Thomas Phillips; and three sisters, Eva York, Evelyn Lawing and infant, Maxine Phillips.

Rev. Paul Babcock conducted graveside services for Virginia May Allen at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, July 3, 2009, at the U.S. National Cemetery. Pallbearers were Greg Dalton, Mark Hughes, Mark Douglas, Marshall York, Joe Costello, Chris Beveridge, Jake Douglas, Jared Douglas and Tommy Dalton. Services were under the direction of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott.

Kash died on Dec 8, 2006 at Great Bend, Barton County, Kansas, at age 85.
     She was also known as Maybelle Kash.

GREAT BEND - Mabel L. Cook, 85, died Dec. 8, 2006, at the Good Samaritan Center, Hays.

She was born May 4, 1921, in Kearny County, the daughter of John and Florence Kaniper Kash. A longtime resident of Great Bend, she was a homemaker.

She was an active member of First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, Great Bend.

On June 21, 1937, she married Norman Cook in Garden City. He died June 22, 1989.

Survivors include: three sons, Robert L., Williamsburg, Va., Roger D., Violet Hill, Ark., and Ronald D. Hays; two brothers, Marvin Kash, Lakin, and Oscar Kash, Meridian, Idaho; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Ray, Arthur, Russell and Clarence Kash; two sisters, Ruby Pebley and Edith Abrams; and a grandson.

Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Great Bend Cemetery, with Elder A.J. Owens presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend.

Memorials may be sent to Hays Hospice or First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, both in care of the funeral home.

      Marvin Allen Kash was born on May 5, 1923 at Kansas. He was the son of John Franklin Kash and Florence Maude Kaniper. Marvin married Thelma Elva Williams on Jun 13, 1942 at Garden City, Finney County, Kansas. Marvin Allen Kash died on Feb 24, 2007 at age 83. LAKIN - Marvin Allen Kash, 83, died Feb. 24, 2007, at Kearny County Hospital, Lakin.

He was born May 5, 1923, in Kearny County, the son of John Franklin and Florence Maude Kaniper Kash. In 1942, he graduated from Lakin Rural High School. A lifetime resident of Lakin, he worked for the Kansas State Highway Department, sold Snap-On-Tools and also worked for the Kearny County Road Department.

He belonged to Columbia Grange until its closing and also Eagles Lodge, Garden City. He served in World War II in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Italy.

On June 13, 1942, he married Thelma Elva Williams in Garden City. She survives.

Other survivors include: a brother, Oscar, Boise, Idaho; and a foster grandson.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Russell, Clarence, Arthur and infant brother Ray Kash; three sisters, Ruby Pebley, Edith Abrams and Maybelle Cook.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home, Lakin, with the Rev. Tod Anthony presiding. Visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Garnand Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lakin Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Garden City area veterans.

      Oscar A. Kash was born on Jul 14, 1926 at Kansas. He was the son of John Franklin Kash and Florence Maude Kaniper. Oscar A. Kash died on May 11, 2007 his last known address was at Midvale, Washington County, Idaho, according to the Social Security Death Index.

      Viola M. Miller was born on Jun 30, 1912. She was the daughter of Walter Miller and Myrtle Shuck. Viola married Clarence L. Kash, son of John Franklin Kash and Florence Maude Kaniper, on Jan 12, 1931. Viola M. Miller died on Feb 17, 2010 at Lakin, Kearny County, Kansas, at age 97. Viola was buried at Lakin Cemetery, Lakin, Kearny County, Kansas.
     

LAKIN - Viola M. Kash, 97, died Feb. 17, 2010, at Kearny County Hospital, Lakin. She was born June 30, 1912, to Walter and Myrtle Shuck Miller.

She was a member of First Christian Church, Lakin.

On Jan. 12, 1931, she married Clarence L. Kash. He died Oct. 13, 2000. Survivors include: two sons, Arnold Kash and Maurice Kash; four grandchildren, Susan Kash, Jim Kash, Dan Kash and Chad Kash; and five great-grandchildren, Sara Kash-Brown, Leah Kash-Brown, Neomi Kash, Jacob Kash and Tyler Kash.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Garnand Funeral Home, Lakin, with Rev. Rita Stockton officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the funeral home.       Harold J. Pebley was born on Apr 4, 1910 at Osborne, Osborne County, Kansas. He was the son of Jesse James Pebley and Elizabeth E. Gray. Harold married Ruby Maude Kash, daughter of John Franklin Kash and Florence Maude Kaniper. Harold J. Pebley died on Oct 27, 2007 at Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center, Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas, at age 97. Harold was buried at North Inman Cemetery, Inman, McPherson County, Kansas.

INMAN - Harold J. Pebley, 97, died Oct. 27, 2007, at Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center, Wichita.

He was born April 4, 1910, in Osborne, the son of Jesse James and Elizabeth E. Gray Pebley. He graduated from Adlahale Business College, Hutchinson. He was a carpenter.

He served the Navy in World War II.

He belonged to Union Valley Bible Church, Hutchinson. He was a past member of the Masons and First Christian Church, Hutchinson

He married Ruby Maude Kash. She died in 1948.

Survivors include: two sons, Warren D., Inman, and Curtis E., Larned; a daughter, Linda Reynolds, Benton, Wash; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Meranda Ann Colvert; and a son, Darrell.

Graveside inurnment will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, at North Inman Cemetery, with Pastor Steve Hodgson presiding. Cremation has take place.
