ATHLYN 'SIS' PRITCHETT

Athlyn "Sis" Pritchett, 95, of 511 W. Jefferson, died at 6:45 pm Thursday, March 12, 1992, at Mt. Carmel Medical Center. She had ben ill for several years and entered the medical cemter March 9.

Mrs. Pritchett was born Dec. 9, 1896 in Osawatamie to John B. and Ella Winifred Conover McIlwaine. She moved to Hoisington, Kan. as a child and attended schools there, graduating from the Hoisington High School. She also attended Wesleyan College and Kansas State Teachers College, now Pittsburg State University. She taught school in Hoisington for several years.

She married William B. Pritchett on June 9, 1920 at Hoisington. They came to Pittsburg shortly after their marriage. They were world travelers and received considerable publicity when they flew to London on the British Concorde in 1977 and made the return from Paris on the French Concorde. Mr. Pritchett preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 1980.

Mrs. Pritchett was a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1920, and was also a member of the United Methodist Women, Kensington Club, Women's Study Club, and the Extension Study Club. She was also active in the Girl Scout organization.

Survivors include three nephews and one niece. She was preceded in death by one sister, Helen W. Meyer, and two brothers, Oliver McIlwaine and Ralph McIlwaine.

Services will be 2 pm, Monday, at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Brenner Chapel after 10 am Sunday.

WILLIAM B. PRITCHETT

William B. Pritchett, 89, of 511 W. Jefferson, died at 4:50 pm Thursday, Feb. 14, 1980, at Sunset Manor after a nine month illness.

He was born Jan. 26, 1891 in Earlington,Ky., to Robert and Etta Pritchett.

Mr. Pritchett came to Pittsburg in 1900 from Madisonville, Ky.

He married Athlyn McIlwaine June 9, 1920 at the home of her parents in Hoisington.

He owned the Pritchett Insurance Agency for many years. Mr. and Mrs. Pritchett were world travelers and received considerable publicity when they flew to London on the British Concorde in 1977 and made the return from Paris on the French Concorde.

Mr. Pritchett served in the Air Force in World War I. He attended business school and the Pittsburg Teachers college. He was a lifelong Methodist and a member of the First United Methodist Church, serving as the former president of the board of trustees and on several other church committees.

He was a past president of the Kiwanis Club and served as Lt. Governor of the Kiwanis for Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. He was also a member of the Pittsburg Masonic Lodge No. 187, the Scottish Rite at Fort Scott, the Mirza Temple, and was past member of the Red Cross board and a former president of the Pittsburg Safety Council.

Survivors include his wife, Athlyn, of the home; a brother Paul Pritchett, Corona Delmar, Calif; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Westfall of Albuquerque, N.M., and Mrs. Betty Archibald of Pasadena, Calif. Four brothers preceded him in death, Robert, Gordon, Ray, and Bernard Pritchett.

Services will be at 2 pm Saturday at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Hobard Hildyard officiating. Burial will be in highland Park Cemetery. the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 pm today at the Brenner Chapel.

Hoisington - Helen W. Meyer, 83, died Nov. 18 at Central Kansas Medical Center. Born Helen McIlwaine Sept. 6, 1903 in Osawatamie, she had been a lifelong resident of Hoisington. She married John Jason Meyer June 3, 1925 in Hoisington. She was a retired history teacher at Hoisington High School. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Meyer was a member of First United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star Una Chapter No. 119, American Legion Auxiliary, Women's Civic Club, Alturian Club, AARP, and NRTA. She was a former member of the Hoisington City library Board.

Survivors include the widower of the home; one son, John E. Meyer, Tulsa, Okla; one daughter, Winifred S. Pinet, Lawrence;,one brother, Ralph W. McIlwaine, Hutchinson; one sister, Athlyn Pritchett, Pittsburg; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Saturday at the church with Rev. Don Koehn officiating. Burial was in Hoisington Cemetery.

MCILWAINE- WERTS

Miss Ermine Werts, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Werts of Republic, was married to Mr. Ralph W. McIlwaine of Hoisington, Kansas Wednesday noon, August 3, at the home of the bride's parents. Reverend Rath of Agra, a close friend of the Werts family, performed the ceremony.

After the ceremony a wedding dinner was served at the Werts home. The bride and groom left for Wisconsin after the dinner. They will spend a short time in Chicago.

Mr. McIlwaine is a young man of fine character and is making a success of his chosen profession of teaching. The bride is well-known to Republic people and is a fine young lady. The young couple will make their home at Galva, Kansas after September 1, where the groom is teaching this winter.

ERMINE WERTS MCILWAINE

Ermine Werts McIlwaine, 87, 700 Monterey Place, died April 17, 1992 at Hutchinson Hospital.

She was born Sept. 6, 1904 at Clyde, the daughter of James W. and Stella Pratt Werts. She was a graduate of Kansas State University. A Hutchinson resident since 1929,she was a homemaker and had been a substitute teacher for the Hutchinson public school system.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist church and the Silver Leaf Chapter No. 464 Order of the Eastern Star, both at Hutchinson.

On Aug. 3, 1927, she married Ralph W. McIlwaine at Republic. He died Nov. 20, 1988.

Survivors include a son, Wes, Lawson, Mo; a sister, Freida Krause, Stuart, Fla; and two grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10:30 am Tuesday at the Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Nick Warner presiding. friends may call from 2 to 9 pm Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson.

Memorials my be sent to the church or to the Hutchinson Hospital foundation, both in care of the mortuary.

JOHN JASON MEYER

John Jason Meyer, 89, Hoisington, a longtime Hoisington High School teacher, died May 5 at Clara Barton Hospital. Born June 5, 1901 at Hoisington, the son of Edward R. and Anna Winter Meyer, he married Helen W. McIlwaine June 33, 1925 in Hoisington. She died Nov. 18, 198. He was an instructor at Hoisington High School for 42 years where he taught chemistry and physics as well as journalism, pre-flight aeronautics, normal training, solid geometry, business law, trigonometry, salesmanship, hisstory, English, psychology, debate, geology, and others. He was also sponsor of the student council for 20 years, coach of several Kansas state champion debate teams, president of the high school athletic association for 20 years, supervisor of WW2 war bond sales, Kansas chairman of the National Forensic League and sponsor of the local chapter, HiY sponsor for 21 years, and was the school's official basketball timekeeper for 15 years. He was also involved in farming.

He was a 77 year member of the First United Methodist Church, a past master of the Masonic Lodge, a charter member and past president of the Kiwanis Club, a member of the Hoisington Chamber of Commerce, all in Hoisington, and was a Royal Arch Mason at Great Bend. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW 1. He was one of the originators of Kansas Brick & Tile and was a director for more than 30 years. He was Grand Marshall of the 1897 Labor Day parade and author of the poem "Hats Off To Hoisington".

Survivors include one son, John E. of Tulsa, Okla; one daughter, Winifred S. Pinet of Lawrence; one sister, Mabel Wauhaus of Great Bend, nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 pm Thursday, May 9, at First United Methodist Church in Hoisington with the Rev. Thomas Sims officiating. Burial at Hoisington Cemetery with masonic graveside rites. friends may call until 9 pm Wednesday and from 9 to 11:30 Thursday at nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home and from noon until service time at the church. JEFFERSON TWP. -- Elbridge "Elbie" Kronenberg died on Monday, Nov. 13, 2006, at home. He was 77.

He was born in Morristown and lived there until moving to the Lake Hopatcong section of Jefferson Township 50 years ago.

He was the owner and operator of Hockenjos Boat Co. in Lake Hopatcong for 42 years, retiring in 2000. He also owned Image Boat Co. in Mt. Olive and Hockenjos Sailing Center in Lake Hopatcong.
Mr. Kronenberg was a firefighter with Hillside Hose Co. No. 1 in Morristown.

He was an Army veteran and was involved with the Lake Hopatcong Historical Society.

His beloved wife, Carol Ann (King), died in 1993.

He was the devoted father of Mark of Lake Hopatcong, and Erich of Budd Lake.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral service on Friday, Nov. 17, at 10 a.m. at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Rd., Landing, (973) 398-3000.
