Rev. Clair Daniel Brubaker, 96, went to be with the Lord on Dec 7, 2010, after a brief illness.

He was born in Duncansville, Pa. on January 15, 1914 to Daniel Brubaker and Mary Hoover Brubaker. As a young man, he moved to Akron Ohio where he met and married Ruth Kieffaber. He was drafted into the Army and served on the Italian front in World War II in the 337th Combat Team of the 85th Infantry.

After the war, he attended the Akron Bible Institute and became pastor of a young congregation meeting in the Hillwood Homes Administration Building. He was Hillwood Chapel's spiritual leader for more than 30 years. He loved the Lord above all else.

Clair was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Ruth and his children, John and Marion. He is survived by his three daughters, Evelyn Teykaerts of Cameron Park, Calif., Martha Friesen of Fairfax, Calif. and Nadine Howell of Fresno, Calif; seven grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, with Rev. Walter Malick officiating. Private interment at Hillside Memorial Park. Friends may call Wednesday, from 11 a.m. until service time. (Hopkins Lawver, Akron, 330-733-6271)

      Donald H. McKee was born on Sep 30, 1925 at Carson Valley, Allegheny Twp., Blair County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Orville Herman McKee and Ida P. Brubaker. Donald married Mary Louise Weidley on May 13, 1949 at Altoona, Blair County, Pennsylvania. Donald H. McKee died on Aug 31, 2009 at Altoona, Blair County, Pennsylvania, at age 83.
     

Donald H. McKee, 83, Duncansville, went to be with the Lord Monday at Altoona Regional Health System, Bon Secours Hospital Campus, after a brief illness.

He was born in Carson Valley, son of Orville and Ida (Brubaker) McKee. He married Mary Louise Weidley May 13, 1949, in Altoona.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years; two daughters: Carolyn of Hollidaysburg and Kay Kiser and husband, James, of Altoona; a special adopted grandson, Dean Lightner; two brothers: Clyde of Altoona and Paul in Utah; two stepbrothers: the Rev. Harold Bowser of Bedford and the Rev. D. Luke Bowser of Martinsburg; and two stepsisters: Mary Monaghan in California and Vergie Brumbaugh of Martinsburg.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Pope.

Donald attended Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School. He was a technical sergeant third class in the U.S. Army and served in the 273rd Infantry at the Battle of the Bulge, where he earned a Purple Heart. He worked for Pittsburgh Gauge and Supply as a truck driver and later retired from Midstate Tool and Supply as a salesman in 1993.

Donald belonged to the Eldorado Kiwanis Club and the Coachman Camping Club Chapter 165. He was a member of the Carson Valley Church of the Brethren, where he served as a trustee and on various church committees and functions, including assisting the BVS in Alabama for two weeks in 1975.

He enjoyed hunting, camping and cooking.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009, at Sorge Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg, and 10 to the 11 a.m. funeral service Thursday at Carson Valley Church of the Brethren by Pastor Bradley R. Runkle. Interment at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.

Full military honors are under the direction of the Blair County Veterans Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Carson Valley Church of the Brethren in memory of Donald H. McKee.

Aged 85, of Cross Keys, died at the home of a son, D. G. Brubaker, at Cross Keys, at 8 o'clock yesterday morning of a complication of ailments resulting from injuries suffered Nov. 7, when he fell down a flight of steps. He was born in Carson Valley on March 24, 1849, and was a retired lumberman. Surviving are three sons and two daughters, D. C. Brubaker, Allen Brubaker, and Mrs. Elsie Irvin of the city, D. G. Brubaker and Mrs. Charles Hoover of Cross Keys; Twenty-two grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, one brother and one sister, Jacob Brubaker of Carson valley and Mrs. Crist Selwitz of Cross Keys. Mr. Brubaker was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Carson valley where funeral services will be held at 2.30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Interment will be made in Carson Valley cemetery.

Wife of John Brubaker, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. W. Hoover, at Cross Keys at 10.15 o'clock last night of a complication of diseases after a short illness. She was born in Carson Valley on March 22, 1858, a daughter of William and Frances Plowman, and had resided in that vicinity all her life.

Surviving are her husband three sons and two daughters, David C Brubaker and Mrs. Elsie Irvin of the city, Allen of Huntingdon, W. Va., Daniel J. Brubaker and Mrs. Lottie F. Hoover, both of Cross Keys, twenty-five grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, two brothers and three sisters, David Plowman of Wilkinsburg, John Plowman and Mrs. Catherine Brubaker of Cross Keys, Mrs. Susan Stoner and Mrs. Clara Myers of the city. Funeral services will be held in the Carson Valley Church of the Brethren at 2.15 o'clock Friday afternoon.

Interment will be made in the Carson Valley cemetery. The body may be viewed at the Hoover home.
