FRANK I. BRUBAKER

Frank I. Brubaker, 78, Box 117, Roaring Spring RR 1, formerly of Cars Valley, died Friday evening, Sept. 12, 1997, at Bon Secours-Holy Family Hospital.

He was born July 16, 1919, in Frankstown Township, the son of Geor and Hattie (Hoover) Brubaker. He married Dorothy M. Helsel Feb. 22, 1942, in Carson Valley. She preceded him in death May 7, 1989. He then married Ethel Pleacher in 1994 in Carson Valley.

Mr. Brubaker was a life member of the Carson Valley Church of the Brethren, where he formerly served as a Sunday school teacher and trustee. He al attended Albright Church of the Brethren, Roaring Spring.

He retired from Car-Val Furniture Co. Inc., in 1995, as president and founder, with 30 years service.

Mr. Brubaker was an Army veteran of World War II, where he served as a technician third grade, Company B, 17th signal operations battalion, serving overseas.

He was a former member and past president of Eldorado Kiwanis Club and a member of the Amputee Association of Blair County.

Surviving are his wife, a son, Michael T. of Altoona; a daughter, Leanna L. Kephart of Scotch Valley; two stepsons, Charles Pleacher of Virginia Beach, VA, and Samuel of Roaring Spring RD; four grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Sorge Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg, Hollidaysburg, and 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Carson Valley Church of the Brethren.

Mrs. Helsel, 78, of 2551 W. Carson Valley Road, Duncansville, died at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 1993, at Altoona Hospital, following and extended illness. She was born March 25, 1915, in Carson Valley, the daughter of George W. and Hattie (Hoover) Brubaker. She married Ellsworth Helsel on May 15, 1937, in Duncansville. He died June 16, 1985. Surviving are five children: Alys Shaw of McKee and Galen, Dale, Lillie Nofsker and Alma Smith of Carson Valley; 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers: Frank and Dean of Carson Valley. Mrs. Helsel was a member of Carson Valley Church of the Brethren, where she was a member of the Women's Fellowship and a Sunday School teacher. She was also a volunteer at the Morrisons Cove Home, Martinsburg.

Robert W. Brubaker, 89, Presbyterian Home at Hollidaysburg, died Friday morning at the home.

He was born in Hollidaysburg, son of Blair E. and Ruth E. (Miller) Brubaker. He married Helen Louise Delozier June 1, 1948, in Hollidaysburg.

Surviving are his wife; six nephews; two nieces; and many grandnieces and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene F.

Mr. Brubaker was a life member of First United Methodist Church, Hollidaysburg.

He retired from Conrail as a car repairman.

Mr. Brubaker was a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School.

He was an Army veteran of WWII, serving in the 17th Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division in Okinawa in the Pacific Theater as a first sergeant. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal with four Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart.

Robert loved golf and enjoyed gardening.

Blair S. Brubaker, 90, passed away July 9, 2004.

Blair, a W.W. II Navy veteran, retired from Goodyear Aerospace in 1974. He was a mem ber of the Ellet Grace Brethren Church for nearly 50 years, where he was a hard working, quiet witness for our Lord Jesus. Blair was an assistant scoutmaster with Goodyear Troupe 59, and a member of the Akron Airstream Club.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Rosalie; twin brother, Rev. Clair; sons, Alan (Patty) and David (Willie); grandchildren, Alan, Joshua, Amanda, Matthew, Sarah and Michael.

Mrs. Alice R. Hoover, of Duncansville R. D. 1, died at 4.10 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the Mercy hospital where she was admitted June 8, after an extended illness.

She was born at Sugar Run March 14,1884, a daughter of Thomas Gabrial and Mary (Miller)Burkhart, and was twice married. Her first husband, Sylvester Brubaker, died in 1907. Her second husband, Levi Hoover, died in 1952.

Surviving are these children: Homer Brubaker of Detroit, Mrs. Eva Merrits of North Carolina, Nelson of Duncansville, R. D., Mrs. Mae Tierney, Mrs. Beatrice Shultz and Jacob Hoover, all of Altoona, George Hoover, Mrs. Olive Beard, Dean Hoover, and Brice Hoover, all of Duncansville, R. D., Mrs. Grace Snyder of Ohio, and Catherine Hoover of California; 27 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Hoover was a member of the Carson Valley Church of the Brethren.

Friends will be received at the Liebegott funeral home, Duncansville from 8 o'clock this evening until 11 o'clock Saturday morning and thereafter at the church.
