Jacob H. Henderson was born on Nov 13, 1859 at farm near, Palestine, Darke County, Ohio. He was the son of Emsley Henderson and Mary Banta. Jacob married Ellen Harter on Sep 25, 1881. Jacob H. Henderson died on Mar 25, 1913 at Greenville, Darke County, Ohio, at age 53; accident during flood. Jacob was buried at Greenmound Cemetery, New Madison, Darke County, Ohio.
from Kathryn Stuart 'kestuart@coshocton.com' "He met his death by accident while discharging his duties as Assistant Supervisor of the Pennsylvania Railroad, near Greenville, Ohio. His obituary says, 'for nearly thirty years he was a loyal and trusted employee of the Pennsylvania company, and was held in high esteem by the officials, loved and respected by his fellow workmen, conscientious in the discharge of his duties, yet ever mindful of those in his charge. Few men have a better record than he, few so long and clear a record of service. His cheerful spirit was ever an inspiration to his associates and endeared him to all with whom he came in contact. Honest, earnest and courageous, he was a born leader of men, withal gentle in his dealings and considerate to all, a happy combination of virtues. A dark gloom spread over the community when the news came that he had lost his life in the flood while endeavoring to safeguard the lives of others. He was a devoted husband, a kind, indulgent father, his family life was ideal, his home one of the happiest in the community. He believed in scattering the flowers of love and sympathy along the pathway of all with whom he came in contact. All will miss the sunshine he diffused'. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at New Madison under the auspices of the Improved Order of Red Men of which he was a member. Interment was in New Madison Cemetery."
