Frederick Courtney Harris married Catherine Marion Pickhardt, daughter of John Frederick Henry Pickhardt and Cornelia Stillwell Smock, on 23. Sep. 1914 at New York City, New York County, New York. Frederick Courtney Harris died on 15. Nov. 1967 at Dallas, Dallas County, Texas, at age 75. As a result of being orphaned at age 13, his formal education did not extend past the seventh grade. He started a six year period of employment in 1907 with the Long Island Railroad, in the middle of which he spent one year as a ranch hand with a boyhood friend at Salina, Utah and Elko, Nevada in 1910-11. After two years in advertising in Binghampton, New York, he moved back to Jamaica, New York in 1917 to accept a position with the J. P. Morgan Company in their export department, and then ran his own exporting and shipping company in New York City from 1919 to 1924. He entered the banking business with the Bank of Manhattan in 1924 as a branch manager of the Jamaica office, and, subsequently, was elevated to treasurer of the bank at the main office on Wall Street. In 1932 the president of the bank purchased the Jamaica Trolley Company [later to become the Jamaica Bus Company] and installed him as vice president and general manager. The company grew to three lines serving much of Queens County. During this period he maintained a summer residence at Allenhurst, New Jersey, from 1931 to 1937. In 1935 he moved his family from Jamaica to Forest Hills, New York. When the bus company was sold in 1941, he accepted an ap-pointment to the position of Chief Clerk of the Surrogate Court of Queens County, New York, in charge of the entire staff of the Court and all business matters relating thereto. His retirement was forced in 1955 due to a stroke, and upon recovery he and his wife move to Dallas, Texas to join son Roger who had taken up residence there the prior year.

Frederick Courtney Harris Jr. was born on 15. Jun. 1915 at Jamaica, Queens County, New York. He was the son of Frederick Courtney Harris and Catherine Marion Pickhardt. Frederick Courtney Harris Jr. married Ethel Mae Donaldson, daughter of Edwin Adam Donaldson and Ethel Winifred Shields, on 21. Jan. 1940 at Harrison, Westchester County, New York. Frederick Courtney Harris Jr. died on 1. Jun. 1944 at Fort Knox, Hardin County, Kentucky, at age 28. He was buried on 6. Jun. 1944 at Flushing Cemetery, Flushing, Queens County, New York. His formal education included graduation from the Jamaica Model School [elementary] in 1928, graduating from St. Paul™s Preparatory School in Garden City, New York in 1933, and he studied at Columbia University in New York City for two years. After one year with the Federal Housing Administration in New York, he was employed with the Brevoort Savings Bank of Brooklyn in their real estate department for four years. During this time he married and took up residence in Kew Gardens, New York. In 1941 he changed his career path and joined the H. J. Heinz Company in the hotel and restaurant division. In 1943 he returned to the banking business with the Dollar Savings Bank, Bronx, New York. Shortly afterwards he was called to military service as World War II was well underway. In October 1943 he entered the U. S. Army at Fort Knox, Kentucky, where he attained the rank of Corporal and was assigned to the permanent cadre at the Armored Replacement Training Center. He was killed at Fort Knox in a training exercise explosion. A posthumous Solider™s Medal was presented his widow and young son by the War Department at ceremonies conducted at the 1st Army Headquarters, Governors Island, New York. The citation quoted, in part, the following account of his death:

"Harris saw flames, realized the danger to the men nearby, and without regard of his personal safety, rushed toward the nitrostarch explosives in an attempt to extinguish the fire."

The explosion that followed resulted in his death and also killed seven other soldiers. His military burial took place on inDle Day.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the First Christian Church, Pampa, with Rev. Dick Crews officiating. Burial was made in Miami Cemetery.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. M. O. Fleming; one brother H. D. Harris of Cleburne; 13 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Miami cemetery records lists her date of birth as January 08, 1871.
