Funeral services for Milton "Babe" Headley of McMinnville will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, in the chapel of Macy & Son Funeral Directors, with the Rev. Jim Peterson officiating. Interment will be limited to the family.
Mr. Headley died at home on Friday, Oct. 5, 2007. He was 69.
Born in Philadelphia, Pa., on Oct. 7, 1937, he was the son of Louis and Jo (Palermo) Headley. After attending school in Philadelphia, he joined the Air Force in 1957.
While stationed in Florida, he married Sharon Headley on Oct. 1, 1962. He was later transferred to Nevada where he taught survival training. After his discharge, he returned to Pennsylvania, settling in Norristown.
He opened Babe's Garage in Norristown. In addition to offering mechanical services, he raced cars professionally in the IMSA and SCCA Trans Am Series.
He later owned and operated Babe's Majestic with his wife in Phoenix, Ariz. They moved to McMinnville last year.
He enjoyed gardening, gold mining and working on cars. "He loved his family and many friends," the family said.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Headley is survived by a daughter, Michelle "Babe" Jacobs of Sherwood, and his father and stepmother, Louis and Flo Headley of Lake Placid, Fla. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Jo and Al Wynn.
