Ann Shafer, on 23. Mar. 1850 at Richwood, Union County, Ohio; by Rev. Wiliam Hamilton. Rev. Calvin Britton Holbrook held the position of Justice of the Peace in 1857 at New Haven Twp., Gratiot County, Michigan.

State of North Dakota, County of Benson. On this 25th day of February A. D. 1907, personally appeared before me, a Notary Public within and for the county and State aforesaid, Calvin B. Holbrook, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is 77 years of age, and a resident of Pleasant Lake, county of Benson, State of North Dakota, and that he is the identical person who was enrolled at Springfield, Ohio under the name of Calvin B. Holbrook, on the 12th day of June 1863 as a Private, Mustered in at Camp Dennison, Ohio, as Quarter Master Sergeant of the 11th Ohio Volunteer Cavalry in the service of the United States, in the Civil War, and was HONORABLY DISCHARGED at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas on the 14th day of July, 1866.
That he was not employed in the military or naval service of the United States otherwise than as stated above. That his personal description at enlistment was as follows: Height, 5 feet 8 1/2 inches; complexion Dark; Color of Eyes Brown; Color of Hair Black; that his occupation was Farmer and that he was born August 27th, 1829 at Westmoreland, Cheshire County, New Hampshire.
That his several places of residence since leaving the service have been as follows: Ohio to Iowa September 1866; Iowa to Nebraska 1873; Nebraska to North Dakota March 1887; North Dakota 1887 to date.
That he is a pensioner. That he has heretofore applied for pension Certificate #674807, $12.00 per month.
That he makes this declaration for the purpose of being placed on the pension roll of the United States under the provisions of the act of February 6, 1907.
That his post-office address is Pleasant Lake, county of Benson, State of North Dakota.

Personally came before me, a Notary Public in and for aforesaid County and State, Ann A. Strong, aged 79 years, residing at Keene, County of Cheshire, State of New Hampshire, who, being duly sworn, declares: That she was well acquainted with Calvin B. Holbrook from boyhood to the time that he left the State of New Hampshire and moved to Ohio and that she know that he was not married when he left New Hampshire. I also further state that the said Calvin B. Holbrook left New Hampshire in the Spring of 1849 before he was 20 in August following.

State of Ohio, County of Union: Personally came before me, a Notary Public in and for the aforesaid County and State, H. C. Hamilton, aged 78 years, residing in Richwood, County of Union, State of Ohio, who, being duly sworn, declares: I personally knew Calvin B. Holbrook who came into the vicinity of Richwood, Union Co., Ohio in the fall of 1849. Said Calvin B. Holbrook came to the above locality, a single or unmarried man and remained so until the following March 23, 1850 at which time he was married to Mary Ann Gearhart by my father Rev. Wm. Hamilton. I knew the said Mary Ann Gearhart from childhood and also that she was not previously married, until married to Calvin B. Holbrook
