NELDA ARAVE SILER
LEWISVILLE, ID -- Nelda Irene Arave Siler, 83, of Lewisville, died June 23, 2002, at her home of heart failure. She was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho.
She was born October 30, 1918, at Jameston, the third of nine children born to Nelson Earl Arave and Della Elizabeth Hampton Arave. She was raised on a farm in the Taylor area and attended schools in that area.
She married Calvin Hansen in 1937. They lived in the Shelley and Boise areas until 1945, when they divorced. They had two children, Ann and Linda Lee. After their divorce, Nelda moved to the Idaho Falls area.
She married Basil Fosbinder in 1946 and they had a daughter, Geraldine, who was injured during birth and was an invalid until her death in 1965. Nelda was her primary caregiver and they operated a dry farm in the mountains above Taylor until their divorce in 1964, when she moved to Lewisville.
She married Albert Smith in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple in 1968 and he passed away in 1974.
She then married Jesse Andrus and they served a full-time mission for the LDS Church in Columbia, South Carolina from 1975-76. Jesse died in 1982.
Nelda married William “Bill” Egbert in 1983 and they served two LDS missions, one to Winnepeg, Manitoba, Canada, from 1985-1987, and the second to Sydney, Australia from 1989-1990. Bill died in 1992.
She married Lester Siler in 1996. They enjoyed working together in gardening, temple work, and teaching primary. They also cared for their great grandson, Niklas, for two years.
An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in various capacities over the years and especially loved teaching children in Primary. Nelda loved her family and friends and was unselfish and committed to service to others and to the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Albert Smith, Jesse Andrus, and Bill Egbert, her daughter, Geraldine, and her siblings, Wallace Earl Arave, Lyal Wilber Arave, Ralph Lee Arave, Don Edwin Arave, Russell L. Arave, Della Grace Hansen, and Mary Louise Hansen.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2002, at the Lewisville LDS 1st Ward, on Main Street in Lewisville, with Bishop Kliff Bramwell officiating. The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the services on Friday at the church.
