Gerald Leroy Kerr was born on 26. Jan. 1917 at Kinsley, Edwards County, Kansas. He was the son of
Jesse Fell Kerr and
Winifred Florance Burcher. Gerald Leroy Kerr married
Marjorie May Gaskill on 26. Jul. 1941 at Great Bend, Barton County, Kansas. Gerald Leroy Kerr began military service on 12. Jul. 1942; served in India. He died on 18. Feb. 1969 at Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri, at age 52. “Gerald L. Kerr, 52, of 618 Smith, a life long resident of Dodge City, Kansas, died Sunday evening at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. He had been in the hospital since December 3.
Mr. Kerr was born January 26, 1917 in Dodge City. He and Marjorie Gaskell were married 27 years ago in Dodge City. Mr. Kerr was a World War II veteran.
After the war he manufactured aluminum doors and windows for a local lumber company and later worked for the sewer maintenance division of Dodge City.
Mr. Kerr was member to the First Christian Church and the local Veterans of Foreign War Post. As a Post member he was for about 10 years a member of the Post’s fine and nationally known color guard, The Blue Bullets.
Survivors include the widow of the home; a son, Jerry, of the home, two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Zink, and Mrs. Don Myers of Liberal; his mother, Mrs. Fell Kerr, and brother, Jack, both of California; two sisters; Mrs. Claude Lawrence of Freemont, California, and Mrs. Lawrence Dasenbrock of Stratton, Colorado.
Funeral was held February 21, 1969 at the First Christian Church in Dodge City. Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City, Kansas.
