Relationship=7th cousin 1 time removed of David Kipp Conover Jr..
Relationship=8th great-grandson of Wolphert Gerretse Van Kouwenhoven.

Franklin Otho Passon was born on 2. May. 1885 at near, Woodington, Darke County, Ohio. He was the son of William B. Passon and Anna May Price. Franklin Otho Passon married Iva Mae Ellison on 15. Feb. 1911 at Greenville, Darke County, Ohio. Franklin Otho Passon died on 24. May. 1949 at Greenville, Darke County, Ohio, at age 64. TIMELINE: Born when Grover Cleveland was President and died during President Harry S. Truman's administration. Lived through WWI & WWII. Frank was of medium build, always very well dressed and known for his violent temper. Family history states that he would go to Greenville and get drunk and his buddies would throw him onto his horse and smack the horse and it would take him home - 3 1/2 miles north of Greenville, near Woodington. Frank was a lifelong resident of Darke County and became a cabinet maker at Banner Lumber Company and Fry Construction Company. He was an excellent carpenter, very particular about his tools. An injury caused him to walk with a limp. He could tell jokes and never smile, loved to square dance and went to a dance every Saturday night. He also like to play euchre. Frank told as a kid they would drink a lot of whiskey, then put their head in a vise and pull a tooth. He died at the home of his girlfriend, Ella Sharp, of a cerebral hemorrhage 9:30 A.M. Evidently he told her he wasn't feeling good when he got there and she called for the doctor. He died before the doctor arrived. In his letters he complained about chest pain for a long time. Remembrances of Gerald 'Red' Passon' just as he wrote it: My father was 5'10' tall, 180 #, dark brown hair, blue eyes, brawd sholders, never had an ounce of fat. He was strong as a bull, and temper to match. He maintained a full head of hair and his fisique until his death, lacking a few days of 65 years old. He was a handsome man and always well groomed. He was spoiled as the only boy of William and Anna Passon. My mother divorced him in 1924. In the early 1920's women were having their hair bobbed and shortened their skirts which was a fastion at that time. Mother had beautiful hair that hung well down to her waist. Mother's step sister-in-law Inez Mills, talked her into the new fastion. On the spur of the moment she had her hair cut and shortened her dress. Dad came home and blew his top. That was the end of their marriage. Although they were divorced, she was still the only woman in his life. He did not marry again, he always had hopes they would get back together. Even after she had remarried twice. I believe they were both to stuborn to give in. My father would not pay his alimony and Mother's attorney wanted to prosecute him. Mother always said no. It is my belief, after mother past away, my father grieved himself to death six months later. After mother past away, nothing seemed important anymore to him. My bother, sister and I were not close to him under the circumstances. When I would see him, he never failed to ask how my mother was. After Corky and I got married and started our family my father wanted to see his grandchildren. He even went so far as to swipe our Sally's pictures. She was in a dancing school at age 3. He pictures were in the Memorial Hall and some business places around town. The mysterious missing pictures I found on the wall by dad's bed when someone told me he was very ill. I even found a snapshot of my mother on Dad's dresser. When I went into the Navy, Corky moved into an apartment across the alley from dad. He and our family got closer, seemed he wanted to do things he missed out on. He loved my wife and the grandchildren very much. For this I can forgive him for what he did to me. Excerpts from another time Red wrote about his father: I never had a permanent home with either of my parents after I was 11 years old. Dad was given 60 acres of land with house, barn and a start of cows, horses, chickens, implements, furniture and all to start, then he bought 100 more acres of joining land with a morgage on the whole works. When he married my mother, 5 years later he lost it all, gambling, on tobacco, tomatoes and contract crops. In those five years, when he thought he had the wolf from the door, the stork flew in the window with my brother, sister and I. We moved to three different farms and he share cropped. They were short lived as we only stayed one year (season) at each place. We moved to town, he found work at the Banner Lumber Co, where he became a finish carpenter. He worked as a carpenter the rest of his life.

Gerald Eugene Passon was born on 28. Apr. 1914 at Greenville, Darke County, Ohio. He was the son of Franklin Otho Passon and Iva Mae Ellison. Gerald Eugene Passon died on 10. Aug. 1986 at Tipp City, Miami County, Ohio, at age 72. TIMELINE: Born during the Presidency of Woodrow Wilson, he lived during WWI and participated in WWII. Gerald Passon was a very tall (6'4') , red head (he was known as Red Passon) with lots of freckles. Dad joined the Navy during WW II and left mother behind with 3 small children and pregnant. He held many jobs but retired from Inland Manufacturing Company as a welder. The family lived in Ft. Jefferson, Ohio; Greenville, Ohio; West Milton, Ohio; Tipp City, Ohio. There were a number of red heads in the family beginning with dad. His daughter Sally, granddaughter Cindy, grandsons Brian, Chris and Eric, and great-grandson Bryce. Others had red highlights. He told the story of his father and mother separating and his father Frank put an ad in the Greenville Paper '2 Boys to put out on a farm'. They were 11 and 12 years old. People came to the front of the courthouse on a Saturday morning to see how big and strong they were. Each was taken to a different home to work. Harold (Uncle Heavy) was taken by a good family that treated him very well. Gerald (Dad) was taken by a family that did not treat him well. The boys met one day and decided to run away together. They slept in the back of a shoe shop and did odd jobs and shined shoes. Later they were given a chance to work in the James Hotel. Dad worked in the kitchen and Heavy did the bell hop work. They both worked the desk as well, checking people in and out of the hotel. They worked long hours and made enough money to get by on. Nick and Angie Zsardulious, brothers, looked out for them and kept them busy and out of trouble. He died of a heart attack suddenly at home in bed. He is buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Ft. Jefferson, Ohio. He was a very difficult personality.

Harold Monroe Passon was born on 16. Jan. 1913 at Greenville, Darke County, Ohio. He was the son of Franklin Otho Passon and Iva Mae Ellison. Harold Monroe Passon died on 5. Mar. 1978 at Sullivan, Missouri, at age 65. Harold and Mary Hale Passon moved to St. Louis, Missouri (1308 Goodfellow Blvd.) and had a shoe shop there. I can still smell the leather and the polish used in the shop. Uncle Heavy would tool leather and make the most elaborate designs on the leather into ladies purses. He made a small one for me that I carried for years before finally losing it. They had a dog named Tarzie. One visit to St. Louis, I took a walk. I was only about 7 or 8 and I got REALLY lost. Crying, several people came out to help me and all I knew was that we were at Uncle Heavy's house. No one recognized the name but they finally found out from me that he had a shoe shop and someone took me there. The people there called him Pat, not Heavy. Later they moved to a farm outside of Sullivan, Missouri. He had gorgeous dark wavy hair and a great sense of humor. He liked to tease us and was very mischievous. He was more loving to us than our dad was. I remember that vividly because dad didn't show affection and Uncle Heavy would grab and hug us. In other ways he and dad were alike, probably from their upbringing. They lived near Miramac Caverns in Missouri and we didn't see them very often. Uncle Heavy died from heart problems and was buried in Greenville Cemetery. He is in the newer section, far west and toward the middle of that part, with a flat marker. OBITUARY SULLIVAN, MISSOURI: Harold M. (Heavy) Passon died 7:30 P.M. Sunday at his farm home here. He had been in failing health the past four years. Mrs. Passon, who served in the U.S. Navy as a gunners mate in WWII, graduated from Greenville (Ohio) High School in 1930. He was a member of the Mason Lodge in Gerald, Missouri and the VFW. Surviving are his wife Mary (Hale) Passon; a brother, Gerald 'Red' Passon; one sister, Margaret Lucille Ward, Troy, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
