Alma Ridgeway Jenkins, 70, of 47 S. Locust, Manteno, Illinois, passed away at the Lyle University Hospital, Maywood, Illinois, May 26, 1971 at 10:10 a.m. She was born in Mt. Pulaski April 7, 1901, the daughter of Arthur and Ann van Hook Ridgeway. She was married to Clark Jenkins at Kankakee, Illinois December 23, 1950, and he passed away June 30, 1957. Surviving are two stepsons, William Jenkins, Peoria; Hayden Jenkins, Hoopeston; a step daughter, Mrs. Mary Anderson, Gibson City, Illinois; a sister, Mrs. Harold (Mary Ellen) Williams, Manteno, Ill; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ruby Ridgeway, Mt. Pulaski, Illinois. She was a member of the Copeland Christian Church.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 29, 1971 at Schahl Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Idleman officiating. Interment was in Steenbergen Cemetery, Mt. Pulaski, Ill. Musical selections were "In the Garden" and "Beyond the Sunset." Pallbearers were Harry van Hook, Omer Henricksmeyer, Frank Turley, Albert Horn, Vernon van Hook, and Russell Bobell.

MT. PULASKI - Arthur T. Ridgeway, 79, died at 5 a.m. Sunday at his home in Elkhart township.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Schahl Funeral Home with the Rev. Carroll Langston of Mt. Pulaski Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Steenbergen Cemetery.
Mr. Ridgeway was born Oct. 8, 1867, in Elkhart township. Surviving are the following children: Hazel, Viola, Mary Ellen, and Marshall, of Mt. Pulaski, and Alma of Manteno. A sister, Mrs. Isora Foster of Mt. Pulaski, also survives.

Arthur Ridgeway Died in Home

Arthur F. Ridgeway, a lifelong resident of Mount Pulaski area, who lived about four miles to the northwest of here, died in his home at 5 a.m. Sunday, June 8, 1947, following an illness of many weeks. He was aged 79 years and 8 months. Mr. Ridgeway was born Oct. 8, 1867, in Elkhart township, about eight miles west of here, a son of Doil and Phoebe Buckles Ridgeway. He grew to young manhood in his home community. In Springfield on June 19, 1894, he married Anna Geneva van Hook of the Copeland Christian Church locality, and they began farming nine miles southwest of the city, remaining there until 24 years ago, when they moved to the present home. His wife preceded him in death on Nov. 21, 1940. Surviving are two sons and three daughters, Azell and Marshall Ridgeway, Viola and Mary Ridgeway, at home; and Alma Ridgeway, Manteno, Ill; also one sister, Mrs. Isora Foster, Mount Pulaski. The body was removed to the Schahl Funeral Home, where funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, conducted by Rev. Carroll Langston, pastor of the Christian Church. Paul R. Moore sang two hymns, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the Sunset" with Mrs. Frank E. Turley piano accompanist.
Burial was in Steenbergen Cemetery, four miles southwest of Mount Pulaski. The pallbearers were Forrest Maske, William Kennedy, Guy Snyder, Ellis C. Downing, Neal Gulso, and Richard Drabing.

He was buried on 10. Jun. 1947 at Steenbergen Cemetery, Mount Pulaski, Logan County, Illinois.

Mt. Pulaski - Azel Lee Ridgeway, 61, resident near Mt. Pulaski, died Thursday at 1:20 a.m. in St. Clara's Hospital after being ill nine hours. He became suddenly ill at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Connolley's drug store.
He was born Aug. 24, 1896 near Illiopolis, the son of Arthur and Anna Van Hook Ridgeway. He is survived by one brother, Marshall Ridgeway of Mt. Pulaski, and a sister, Mrs. Elmer Jenkins of Manteno.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Schahl Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Burdick officiating. Burial will be in Steenbergen cemetery. Friends may call Friday afternoon and evening at the funeral home.

He was buried on 30. Nov. 1957 at Steenbergen Cemetery, Mount Pulaski, Logan County, Illinois.

Dariel Ridgeway, one of the old and best known residents of Cornland, died at the home of his son, Ed Ridgeway Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock.

The decedent was 70 years of age. He was a farmer for many years, until he retired and made his home with his son. His wife died years ago but he is survived by several children. Death was due to heart trouble following an illness of a month. The funeral was held at the Christian church, Rev. Hughes officiating, Friday afternoon. Burial was in Carlisle cemetery.

He was buried at Carlyle Cemetery, Mount Pulaski, Logan County, Illinois.

Nov 30th, Obituary:
The high esteem in which the late Edgar C. Ridgeway was held was manifested at his funeral on Sunday, Nov. 16, when one of the largest crowds ever to attend a funeral in Lake Fork vicinity was present to pay its last sad respects to this well known and highly respected citizen, friend, and neighbor.

The services were held in the Lake Fork Christian church conducted by the pastor Rev. Harold Owens and the song service was in charge of Miss Flora Handlin. A quartet composed of Mrs. Harry Piatt, Miss Florence Stultz, Lee Stultz, and Orville Piatt rendered two song numbers "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden."

The Odd Fellow lodge of Mt. Pulaski, of which the departed was an old member, conducted the rites of the lodge at the grave in Carlyle cemetery. The pall bearers wer Theodore Aderman, John Kerschner, Henry Gruber, Frank Rentchler, John Davis, and Arthur Woodrum.

Edward C. Ridgeway died in St. Clara's hospital, Lincoln at 5:40 o'clock on Thursday morning Nov. 13, 1930. He was born in Elkhart township Sept. 30, 1865 and died at the age of 65 years, 1 month, and 13 days. Decedent was a son of Doyle and Phoebe Buckles Ridgeway and his wife, who passed away some thirty years ago, was Miss Laura Coats.

Surviving are four sons, Ervin, Illiopolis; Roy and Vernon at home and William near Mt. Pulaski. Also one brother Arthur Ridgeway living northwest of Mt. Pulaski and one sister Mrs. Izore Foster who has lived with the decedent since the death of his wife.

The remains were brought to Mt. Pulaski in the Hershey ambulance and prepared for burial in the Hershey funeral home.
Funeral service will be held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon Nov. 16 in the Lake Fork Christian church conducted by the pastor Rev. Harold Owens. Interment will be in Carlyle cemetery.

He was buried at Carlyle Cemetery, Mount Pulaski, Logan County, Illinois.

MT. PULASKI - Marshall Ridgeway, 69, a retired farmer, died Wednesday at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Schahl Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Gipson officiating. Burial will be in Steenbergen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The deceased was born Jan. 28, 1899 at Illiopolis, a son of Arthur and Ann Van Hook Ridgeway. He married Ruby Bobell Dec. 27, 1948 at Mt. Pulaski. Surviving are his wife and a sister, Mrs. Alma Jenkins of Manteno. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Isora B. Foster Dies in Hospital

MT. PULASKI - Mrs. Isora B. Foster, 76, of Mt. Pulaski, died at 8:35 a.m. Monday at St. Clara's Hospital in Lincoln, where she had been a patient three days.

She was born Aug. 23, 1871 in Illiopolis. She was married to John Foster, who preceded her in death a number of years ago. Mrs. Foster was a member of the Christian church.

Surviving are three sons, Glenn Foster of Lincoln, Larue Foster of Joliet, and Dean Foster of Mt. Pulaski; two grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday from Schahl Funeral Home with the Rev. Carroll Langston, minister of the Christian church, officiating.

MRS. ISORA FOSTER DIED MONDAY AT ST. CLARA'S HOSPITAL

Mrs. Isora B. Foster, a resident of Mount Pulaski for ten years, living on North Lafayette Street, died at 8:35 a.m. Monday, March 29, 1948, in St. Clara's Hospital, Lincoln, Ill., where she had been a patient for three days. Mrs. Foster was aged 76 years, 7 months, and 6 days. Her health began failing many months ago. Isora B. Ridgeway was born August 23, 1871, near Illiopolis, Ill., a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Doil Ridgeway. More than a half century ago, she married John Foster. Decedent was a resident of the Lake Fork community for many years before locating to Mount Pulaski. She was a member of the Copeland Christian church, six miles southwest of Mount Pulaski. Mrs. Foster was the last member of the Ridgeway family. Surviving are three sons, Glenn R. Foster of Lincoln; Larue Foster of Joliet; and Dean Foster of Mt. Pulaski; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The remains were removed to the Schahl Funeral Home, where funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, conducted by Rev. F. E. Neumeyer. Two Hymns, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Under His Wings", were sung by Paul R. Moore, with piano accompaniment by Mrs. Frank E. Turley.

Burial was made in the Carlyle Cemetery, four miles west of Mount Pulaski. The pallbearers were William Handlin of Lincoln; Edward Michel, Frank Handlin, Roy Moore, Elza Ogelesby, and Dean Shinn.

She was buried at Carlyle Cemetery, Mount Pulaski, Logan County, Illinois.

Miss Laura Viola Ridgeway, who made her home with her brother, Azel Ridgeway, four miles northwest of Mount Pulaski, died in the St. Clara's Hospital at 2:25 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, 1951, after a surgical operation. Miss Ridgeway was taken to the hospital in Lincoln Tuesday.
She was aged 44 years, 7 months, and 5 days. Decedent was born Jan. 18, 1907, in Sangamon County, south of the Copeland Christian Church, a daughter of Arthur and Anna van Hook Ridgeway. She had always lived in the Mount Pulaski area. Miss Ridgeway is survived by two brothers, Azel and Marshall of Mount Pulaski; two sisters, Mrs. Alma Jenkins and Miss Mary Ellen Ridgeway, Manteno, Ill.
The body was removed to the Schahl Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, conducted by Rev. Robert Wilkes, pastor of the Christian Church.
Burial will be in Steenbergen Cemetery, southwest of Mount Pulaski.

Mrs. Birkes was a member of the Lake Fork Christian Church.
She was born April 14, 1905 in Logan County, a daughter of Elmer and Minnie Manley Ridgeway. She married Carl Unland in 1923. He died in 1926. She married James R. Birkes in October 1929 in St. Louis, Mo.
Surviving are one son, Kenneth Unland of Decatur; one daughter, Joyce Jarrell of Hartsburg; one brother, Harold R. Ridgeway of Pioneer City, Calif; one sister, Lila A. Brady of Morro Bay, Calif; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Holland and Barry Funeral Home, with Tom Gerdis officiating. Burial will be at Zion Cemetery in Lincoln.
Visitation will be one hour before the service Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Hartsburg Rescue Squad.

ROY RIDGEWAY, LAKE FORK RESIDENT, DIED WEDNESDAY

Roy Ridgeway of Lake Fork died at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 14, 1954, in the Abraham Lincoln Hospital in Lincoln, Ill., at the age of 60 years, 5 months, and 15 days. His health had been failing for many months, and he was a hospital patient for four months.

Mr. Ridgeway was born Oct. 29, 1893, near Lake Fork, Ill., a son of Edgar and Sarah Coats Ridgeway and was a lifelong resident of the Lake Fork community. He never married. For many years he followed farming and later did elevator work and was active until health prevented. Decedent was a veteran of World War I, and was a member of the American Legion and Odd Fellows Lodge of Mount Pulaski.

Surviving are three brothers, William of Lincoln; Vernon of Springfield; and Irvin of Illiopolis.

The body was removed to the Schahl Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, conducted by Rev. Vern Barr. It will be a military service in charge of the American Legion. Burial will be in the Carlyle cemetery one mile north of Lake Fork.

He was buried at Carlyle Cemetery, Mount Pulaski, Logan County, Illinois.

Vernon Ridgeway, 73, of Lake Fork, Ill., passed away at 9:45 p.m. Sunday, December 8, 1968, at the Mary Henry Nursing Home, Lincoln, Ill.

He was born at Lake Fork, Ill., December 6, 1895, the son of Edgar and Laura Coates Ridgeway. He was never married. He is survived by a brother, Irvin Ridgeway of Illiopolis, Ill; two nieces and two nephews. Two brothers preceded him in death.

He was a veteran of World War I. He worked for the Franklin Insurance Company. For thirty years he was a Precinct Committeeman. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Lincoln, and the American Legion of Mt. Pulaski.

Visitation was held at the Schahl Funeral Home from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services were held at the Schahl Funeral Home Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Ray Gipson officiating. The soloist, Paul Moore, sang "I'm But a Stranger Here" and "Abide With Me". Organ music was furnished by Mrs. Fern Stuart. Military rites were conducted by the Mt. Pulaski American Legion Post No. 447.

Pallbearers were: Clyde Febus, Fred Schahl, Elza Dean Oglesby, Willis Gaffney, William Oglesby, and Alonzo Wiebking.

He was buried at Carlyle Cemetery, Mount Pulaski, Logan County, Illinois.

DEATH OF WALTER RIDGEWAY


Died at 5 a. m. Sunday, March 31, 1901 at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, Walter Ridgeway, aged 26 years, 9 months, and 30 days.

Mr. Ridgeway was born in Lanesville, but the latter part of his life was spent in the vicinity of Lake Fork station. He recently suffered an attack of appendicitis and was taken to the hospital where an operation was performed for his relief, but he could not rally from the weakness induced by the operation. He is survived by his wife, two daughters Luella and Myrtle Ridgeway, his father D. F. Ridgeway, two brothers Edward and Arthur Ridgeway, and one sister Mrs. Izora Foster, all of Logan County. The remains were brought to Lake Fork Monday morning and the funeral occurred at the Buckles church at 2 p. m., followed by interment in the Carlyle cemetery.

He was buried at Carlyle Cemetery, Mount Pulaski, Logan County, Illinois.

Ridgeway Rites Will be Friday

William Lee Ridgeway, Sr., of 111 Welch Drive, died at 6:02 p.m. Monday in Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital. The body is at Schahl Funeral Home in Mt. Pulaski where friends may call Thursday afternoon and evening.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday from the funeral home with the Rev. Luther Barnes officiating. Burial will be in Carlyle cemetery.

The deceased was born at Lake Fork Jan. 9, 1899, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Ridgeway. He married Florence Shrader in Lincoln Jan. 15, 1920, and she died May 4, 1962. He leaves a son, William Ridgeway, Jr., of Lincoln; a daughter, Mrs. Doris Hagen of Anaheim, Calif; two brothers, Irwin of Illiopolis and Vernon of Lake Fork; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was a member of the Four Square Gospel church and No. 895, Local Union.

WM. L. RIDGEWAY, 63, DIED MONDAY AT LINCOLN HOSPITAL

William Lee Ridgeway, Sr., of 111 Welch Drive, Lincoln, Ill., died in the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Lincoln, at 6:02 p.m. Monday. He had been a hospital patient for seven hours. Mr. Ridgeway was aged 63 years, 6 months, and 7 days. Decedent was born Jan. 9, 1899, in the Lake Fork community, a son of Edgar and Laura Coates Ridgeway. He grew to young manhood in his home neighborhood. In Lincoln on Jan. 15, 1920, he married Florence Shrader. They had been residents of Lincoln for 21 years. They formerly resided in Mount Pulaski for several years. His wife preceded him in death on May 4, 1962.

Mr. Ridgeway was a member of the Four Square Church and Local Labor Union No. 895, Lincoln.

He is survived by one son, William Jr., of Lincoln; one daughter, Mrs. Doris Hagen of Anaheim, Calif; two brothers, Irvin Ridgeway of Illiopolis and Vernon Ridgeway of Lake Fork; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The remains were removed to the Schahl Funeral Home in Mt. Pulaski where funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, July 20, in charge of the Rev. Luther Barnes, of Decatur.

Interment will be made in the Carlyle Cemetery west of Mount Pulaski.

He was buried at Carlyle Cemetery, Mount Pulaski, Logan County, Illinois.
