Hospice Center, Valparaiso. He was 86. He was born February 3, 1918 in Valparaiso, the son of William H. and Ethel L. (Bull) Ruge, both of whom preceded him in death. On November 11, 1948 in Michigan City, he married Arnelda Cooney, who survives. He is also survived by two sons, Bruce (Cheryl) Ruge, of Valparaiso and Thomas (Janet) Ruge, of Liberty Twp; a daughter, Sally Jo (Jack) Gleason of Decatur, Mich; three sisters, Isabel (Bernard) Pestow of Goshen, Martha Mae (Bob) Etchason of Liberty Twp. and Ethel Ann Curtis of Liberty Twp; a brother, Donald (Bernice) Ruge of Liberty Twp; a sister-in-law, Margaret Ruge of Liberty Twp; grandchildren Mike and Steven Gleason, Jonathon, Jason and Jessica Ruge, Heather Gaylord, Megan Nazarath, Joshua and Daniel Ruge and 12 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Ann McMeans; a sister, Dorothy Gilmore and two brothers, Byron and Richard Ruge. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Corps serving in the Signal Corps. He completed his military service in 1945. He was a member of Liberty Bible Church, and member of V.F.W. Porter Post 2511, American Legion Post 170 Chesterton and Michigan City Moose Lodge #980. He was also a charter member of the Liberty Twp. Volunteer Fire Department. A funeral service Rev. Ken Long officiating, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. Visitation is scheduled from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway. Memorials may be made to V.N.A. Hospice Center, Valparaiso. He was buried on 25. Feb. 2004 at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso, Porter County, Indiana.
