William Eugene Ryker began military service bt 1915 - 1918 at Possibly, France; Obit. states that in WW I, "... he served overseas with the 309th Engineers."

Crawfordsville clipping says, "Private William Eugene Ryker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Ryker, left in the county draft increment June 25, 1918, for Camp Sherman. He was stationed at Camp Mills ready to embark for Europe when the Review blank was filled out. Private Ryker was born in the Potato Creek neighborhood Aug. 3, 1895 and has lived in this county [i.e., Montgomery] all his life ...(etc). He was transferred from Camp Sherman to Camp Mills on Aug. 24. He married Iva Irene Milligan on 2. Oct. 1923 at Lebanon, Boone County, Indiana. William Eugene Ryker was Inspector; Worked at Ross Gear & Tool for 16 yrs. At Ross Gear & Tool Co., Lafayette, Tippecanoe County, Indiana. He died on 26. Jan. 1959 at Lafayette, Tippecanoe County, Indiana; Died unexpectedly of a heart attack in his home, 323 S. 6th Street, Lafayette, IN. He was buried on 29. Harold Corwin Sabin married Mary La Rue, daughter of Berdia Mildred Miller, in 1917. Harold Corwin Sabin died in Nov. 1972 at Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana, at age 86. SSAN: 304-01-7193 [Obit, 29 Nov 1972] A former Lebanon resident, news editor of The Western Star in 1906 & 1907, died Saturday at Indianapolis, IN. Harold C Sabin, 86, who spent most of his life in IN journalism, was the s/o of William Sabin & Rebecca Emmons Sabin and born at Lebanon in 1886. He graduated from Lebanon High School and also received a B.S. and B.A. degree from the National Normal University, located at Lebanon. Later he graduated from Yale Univ. His long years in journalism were mostly spent in IN where he started as a reporter for the Indianapolis Sun in 1913, advancing to city editor before leaving. He also spent time as a copy reader for the Indianapolis News during this period. In the pre-WW I period he joined the Shield Press at Indianapolis, editing several of the firm's publications until 1954, when new owners took over. He then became editor of one publication and contributed features and columns for three others. In 1963 Shield Press ceased publication and Sabin began news editing and feature writing for the Marion Co Mail, a weekly paper. He married Mary LaRue of Indianapolis in 1917, who died in 1945. Since that time he has made his home at Sheffield Inn, Indianapolis. There are no surviving near relatives. Funeral arrangements were pending at Flanner & Buchanon, a Fall Creek mortuary.

Apr. 1925 at Lebanon, Warren County, Ohio, at age 74. [Obit, 14 Apr 1925] William E Sabin, who died last Wed at the age of 74, was almost a life-long resident of Lebanon and was actively engaged in business here for more than forty years. he was born in Lebanon on 25 Sep 1850, and spent his youthful years on the farm of his grandparents north of Genntown where he received his education in the public schools. After being employed for a few years in the hardware trade, he established a mercantile business of his own in Lebanon. In succeeding years he became one of the most widely known business men of this city, his acquaintence extending throughout Warren county. He took an active interest in civic affairs, lending his influence in support of various good causes, and also faithfully fulfilled the political duties of citizenship. Without ostentation he performed many kindly deeds of charity and he was deeply devoted to the members of his family, while his genial manner and perennial good nature made him a man of many friends. He was a practical Christian who loved his fellowman, who was of the Quaker faith, which was also the faith of his brothers and ancestors. William E Sabin was the second son of James C and Margaret A Sabin and grandson of Jesse B and Rebecca Knox Corwin. He is survived by his wife; one son, Harold; and two sisters, Lida C and Margaret R Sabin. The funeral services were held on Fri at 2 p.m. in the home at 458 East Mulberry street and the burial was in Lebanon cemetery.
