     Mary VanZandt Sortor was born on 23. Aug. 1840 at Blawenburg, Somerset County, New Jersey. She was the daughter of George Sortor and Leah Van Zandt. Mary VanZandt Sortor married David Comfort Voorhees, son of John A. Voorhees and Elizabeth Skillman, on 24. Sep. 1863 at Dutch Reformed Church, Blawenburg, Somerset County, New Jersey. Mary VanZandt Sortor resided at at Plainfield, Union County, New Jersey, in Nov. 1889. She died on 18. Jan. 1930 at Plainfield, Union County, New Jersey, at age 89. She was buried on 22. Jan. 1930 at Neius Cemetery, Blawenburg, Somerset County, New Jersey. Mary Sortor Voorhees born at Blawenburg, N.J. August 23, 1840, wife of David C. Voorhees, and mother of Jeanetta, May J. Stanley, and H. Russel, and George Edwin (deceased). Youngest daughert fo George and Leah Sortor - seventh daughter in her father's family, and her husband was the seventh son in his father's family. At an early age she untied with the Blwenburg Reformed Church, and was a faithful worker in its activies for many years, until she moved to Plainfield, N.J. in Novmeber 1898, where she joined the Cresent Avenue Prsbyterian Church...Her funeral was held, Tuesday, January 21st, at 2:30 P.M. at her residence 838 Carlton Avenue, Plainfild. Internment was at the Blawenburg Cemetery, January 22nd.
