Thomas Wakeley Sortore was born on 7. Mar. 1846 at Amity, Allegany County, New York. He was the son of
William M. Sortore Sr. and
Cynthia Diana Clark. He served as a Private in Company I, 141st Regiment New York Infantry during the Civil War. He enlisted for three years on 29 December 1863 and was described as having blue eyes, brown hair, light complexion and 5 foot 7 inches tall. He was discharged because of tuberculosis contracted during his enlisment on 5 May 1865. He received a pension of $30.00 per month for his services in the Civil War. Thomas Wakeley Sortore began military service on 29. Dec. 1863 at Elmira, Chemung County, New York; Thomas W. Sortore served as a Private in Co. I, 141 Regiment, New York Infantry. He was mustered in a Elmira, New York of 29 December 1863. He was described as being 5 feet 7 inches tall, having a light complexion, blue eyes and brown hair. Thomas was discharged with a certificate of disability because of Tuburculous contracted during his enlistment on 5 May 1865. He was Farmer on 29. Dec. 1863 at Amity Twp., Allegany County, New York. With Co. I, 141st Regiment, New York Infantry on 29. Dec. 1863 at Amity Twp., Allegany County, New York. With Co. I, 141st Regiment, New York Infantry, discharged due to tuberculosis contracted since his enlistment, he was admited to the hospital 28 June 1864. He first was admited to the hospital in Nashville, Tennessee for scurvy on 5. May. 1865 at New Albany, Floyd County, Indiana. He married
