Claude Mitchell Terhune, 89, of Harlingen, TX, died March 3, 2006.
Born Jan. 7, 1917 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Claude and Laura Terhune and the husband of Ruby Lee Terhune.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran and flew in defense of Pearl Harbor during and after the attack in WWII. He received many commendations including the Air Force Longevity Service Award. After retiring from the military, he taught in the Harlingen school system for 14 years and earned his master¹s degree in History from Texas A&M. He was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association and the First Baptist Church in Harlingen.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one son, Terry (Susan) Terhune; two daughters, Claudia (Glenn) Joines and Stephanie (Dwayne) Nimerick; one brother, Loren Terhune; one sister, Anne Freeman of Harrodsburg, and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.
Funeral services were held March 7 at the Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home in Harlingen with the Rev. Chris Hall officiating.
