Enoch G. Van Hoesen was born on 7. May. 1928 at Fanwood, Union County, New Jersey. He was the son of
Walter Hamilton Van Hoesen and
Naomi Fritts. Enoch G. Van Hoesen served as a Corporal in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He died on 4. Feb. 2005 his last known address was at Roseland, Essex County, New Jersey, according to the Social Security Death Index.

WATCHUNG -- Enoch G. Van Hoesen, a licensed customs broker who traced his lineage to the 17th-century Dutch settlers of New Amsterdam, died Friday at his home at age 76.
He was a direct descendant of Peter Brown, who came to America in 1620 aboard the Mayflower. Mr. Van Hoesen was among the fourth generation of his family to own the Premier Shipping Co.
He was a member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants; the Holland Society of New York, for male descendants of the Mayflower; the Sons of the American Revolution, and the American Legion.
Mr. Van Hoesen was chairman of the Board of Deacons, chairman of the Finance Committee and chairman of the Building & Property Committee at the Scotch Plains Baptist Church. He oversaw the Coles Fund which helps maintain the church building.
He also was involved with his church's 250th anniversary celebration, the restoration of the church sanctuary and the church's annual bazaar. Mr. Van Hoesen and his wife, Patricia Penry Van Hoesen, were married at the Scotch Plains Baptist Church on Feb. 9, 1957.
He was a Marine Corps sergeant in the Korean War and stationed in Norfolk, Va., before that war.
Born May 7, 1928 in Fanwood, he was a son of the late Walter H. and Naomi Van Hoesen. Mr. Van Hoesen lived in Fanwood before moving to Watchung in 1958.
Two brothers, Stephen and Walter, are deceased.
In addition to his wife, surviving are a brother, Everett H. and wife Alice of Marco Island, Fla; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Scotch Plains Baptist Church, 333 Park Ave., Scotch Plains. Burial will be in the church cemetery with arrangements by the Memorial Funeral Home in Fanwood.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Enoch Van Hoesen Memorial Fund at the Scotch Plains Baptist Church.

Enoch G. Van Hoesen, a lifelong resident of New Jersey and loving husband of Patricia Van Hoesen, passed away on Friday, February 4, at the age of 76 at his home in Watchung. One of four boys, Enoch was born in Fanwood on May 7, 1928 to Walter H. and Naomi Van Hoesen. In 1946, he graduated from Scotch Plains High School and then faithfully served his country as a Sergeant assigned to the Headquarters Squadron Aircraft Fleet, Marine Force Atlantic, at Norfolk, Va. He also served as a Sergeant in the Korean Conflict. Enoch was a licensed custom broker and owner of Premier Shipping, the fourth generation in this family business. He traced his ancestry back to New Amsterdam, prior to 1646, and was a descendent of Peter Brown, who came to America on the Mayflower. Enoch was a member of the Holland Society of New York, the membership of which was based on being a direct, male descendent of one of the Mayflower passengers. He also was a member of the Sons of the
American Revolution; the Mayflower Society and the American Legion. He was a member of the Scotch Plains Baptist Church since 1957, having joined upon his marriage to his wife, Patricia. Enoch and Patricia would have been married 48 years on February 9 this year. At the Scotch Plains Baptist Church, he served as Chairman of the Board of Deacons, as a deacon, and on many divisions, including Finance and Building and Property. Enoch’s service was far reaching, as he contributed his time and resources to many projects. Among them were the restoration of the church sanctuary; the 250th Anniversary Celebration of Scotch Plains Baptist Church, and the Annual Church Bazaar. Enoch also helped oversee the use of the Coles Fund, which was given to maintain the church building, and he worked on the restoration of the historic parsonage. Enoch received the 2004 Ronald Reagan Republican Gold Medal Award for his support of the Republican Party, outstanding leadership in business, and for his commitment to the President’s vision for an entrepreneurial America.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; one brother, Everett Van Hoesen and his wife, Alice, of Marco Island, Fla., and their five children; his sister-inlaw Beatrice (wife of the late Stephen Van Hoesen) and their son; sister-inlaw Jean (wife of the late Walter Van Hoesen) and their five children, including wife, Karen, and their son, Eric, of Fanwood; Patricia’s brother, Edward Penry and his wife, Joan, of West
Chester, Pa. and their daughters, Linda Mastrangelo of Mandam, N.D. and Deborah Weston and family of Orinda, Calif., and a host of grandnieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the
Scotch Plains Baptist Church on Saturday, February 12, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are by the Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Avenue in Fanwood. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Enoch Van Hoesen Memorial Fund at the Scotch Plains Baptist Church, 333 Park Avenue.
He was buried at Scotch Plains Baptist Church, Scotch Plains, Union County, New Jersey.
