Ada Jane Vanderveer was born on September 24, 1865 at Postown, Butler County, Iowa. Ada Jane Vanderveer was the daughter of
Uriah Vanderveer and
Laura Burnett Lanning. Ada Jane Vanderveer married
Lincoln Ellsworth Anthony, son of
David Anthony and
Elizabeth (Unknown), on January 1, 1891 at Grinnell, Powshiek County, Iowa. Ada Jane Vanderveer died on June 22, 1961 at Chelsea, Tama County, Iowa, at age 95.
SHERIDAN RITES CONDUCTED FOR MRS. ADA ANTHONY
Services were held Saturday, June 24th from the Sheridan Methodist church for Mrs. Ada Jane Anthony, 95, of Chelsea, who died June 22nd at the Hilligas Nursing Home in Chelsea. Burial was in the Sheridan cemetery.
Officiating at the services was the Rev. C.E. Kingsley, pastor of the First Baptist church, Grinnell. Music was furnished by Mrs. Fred Weaver, pianist, and Mrs. Floyd Johnson and Mrs. Charles Horrigan, vocalist.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Charles Anthony, David Anthony, Earl Anthony, Thomas Anthony, James Johnson and Robert Saunders. In charge of flowers were Mrs. Grace Brown and Mrs. Alice Wolcott.
Born Ada Jane Vanderveer in Post Town, Ohio, on Sept. 24th, 1865, she was the daughter of Uriah and Laura Vanderveer. Mrs. Anthony moved with her parents to Grinnell in 1876.
She was educated in the Grinnell schools, graduating from high school with the class of 1883. She taught school until her marriage in 1891 to Lincoln E. Anthony of Sheridan. They lived most of their married life in Sheridan.
Mrs. Anthony was a member of the Sheridan Methodist church at the time of her death. She also belonged to the Sheridan W.S.C.S. She had been in the care of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kenner of near Haven since breaking her hip in 1955.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1929 and a daughter. She is survived by seven children: Emory Anthony, Mrs. Harry Kenner and Mrs. Laura Johnson, all of Chelsea, David Anthony of Tama, Ray Anthony of Brooklyn, Leslie Anthony of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Wallace Cloyd of Newburg.
Also surviving are 30 grandchildren, 72 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and a brother, Ralph Vanderveer of Marshalltown. On June 23, 1961.
