John Voorhees was born circa 1732. John Voorhees was the son of
Hendrick Voorhees and
Jannetje Andries Van Arsdale. John Voorhees married
Neeltie Vanderveer, daughter of
Tunis Vanderveer and
Aeltje Gerretse Schenck, circa 1752. John Voorhees died before 1763 at Upper Freehold, Monmouth County, New Jersey. John Voorhees was buried at Old Tennent Church Cemetery, Tennent, Monmouth County, New Jersey.
On September 24, 1763 A renunciation was made by Nelley Voorhees, widow of John, in favor of her brother, John Vanderveer and signed in Upper Freehold by Nelley Voorhees.
John Voorhees estate was administered by John Vanderveer. The bondsman was Peter Voorhees of sd. county on September 27, 1763 at Monmouth County, New Jersey. The Inventory of John Voorhees was taken by Wm Barkalow and Jas Lawrence. It included "farm and household utensils, produce, horses, cattle, subscription for a bridge over the creek, 3 servants, fuling utensils, pare of clthe shears, two sets fo weights and sundrey carpenters tools and grain in the mill." On November 1, 1763. A public sale was held 23 April by Monmouth County sheriff John Taylor, by virtue of writ of
fieri facias against the goods and chatels land and tenements of John Voorhees, late deceased, on plantation in upper Freehold about 3 miles from Allenstown. 170 A[cres] of good land with 3 good seelling houses, a good grist mill with 2 pair of stones, a fulling mill adjoining the same with plenty of water for both mills, a barn with out-houses, two bearing orchards, To be sold on the primises between 12 and 5. On 1764 An announcement in the
New York Mercury says the land of John Voorhees, desc. was for sale.
