Charles Wyckoff was born on January 12, 1838 at Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County, Michigan. Charles Wyckoff was the son of
Richard Bernard Wyckoff and
Esther Cherry Jones. Charles Wyckoff married
Mary Augusta Wyckoff, daughter of
Hiram Wyckoff and
Elizabeth Howland, on September 18, 1853 at Iowa Twp., Iowa. Charles Wyckoff died on October 16, 1918 at Delmar, Clinton County, Iowa, at age 80.
Clinton Herald Friday 18, October 1918 Death, the result of old age, came at midnight Wednesday to Charles Wyckoff, Father of Edward Wyckoff, 1034 Camache Avenue, [Clinton] at the home of another son, Henry, at Delmar. Charles Wyckoff was one of Jackson County's oldest and most prominent citizens. He came to Van Buren township 80 years ago from Michigan, where he was born in Januray, 1838, being but three months of age when his parents took up the residence that was retained by their son until his death, though for the last few years he had lived with his son Henry of Delmar. Mr. Wyckoff was one of the founders of the Farmers' Mutual Aid association and at the time of his death served as one of the directors. He was active in social and community life. Five sons and two daughters survive their father, the mother and one child having preceded him. These are Henry of Delmar, Samuel and Mrs. David Smith of Lyons. Mrs John Gries of Ute, John of Green Island, Theodore of Sioux City and Edward of Clinton. All but two of the children were with their father when the end came. Funeral services will be held in the open air at the Van Buren cemetery near Preston Sunday morning at 11 O'clock. He was buried at Buckeye Cemetery, Van Buren, Iowa.
