Nancy Harbert, on 21. Oct. 1944 at Peoria, Peoria County, Illinois. Wilkie R. Byers died on 1. Aug. 1963 at Illinois at age 77.
WILKIE BYERS FUNERAL SERVICE HELD SATURDAY
Wilkie R. Byers, 77, of 916 West Wood St., Decatur, Ill., passed away Thursday, Aug. 1, 1963, at 4:04 a.m. in the Decatur and Macon County Hospital, where he had been a patient for 12 days.
Mr. Byers was born July 4, 1886 in Warrick County, Indiana, a son of George and Sarah McNeeley Byers. He married Louella Ridgeway in Peoria, Ill., Oct. 21, 1944, and she survives with a son, Ralph Byers of Lexington, Ky; one sister, Mrs. Naomi Swain, Amarillo, Texas; and six grandchildren.
Decedent was a member of the Decatur First Presbyterian Church, a member of the Herrin Prairie Masonic Lodge No. 693 AF & AM, and Painters & Coal Miners Union. A Masonic service was held at 7 p.m. Friday at the Schahl Funeral Home conducted by the Mount Pulaski Masonic Lodge.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 3, at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. J. W. Logan officiating.
Paul R. Moore sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "The Lord's Prayer" with Mrs. Zelma Turley as accompanist. Pallbearers were Robert and Donald Copeland, Herbert Shellhammer, Frank Turley, Ennis Downing, and John Curtis.
Burial was in the Carlyle Cemetery.
