I, Reba Fidler, along with my sisters Donna Fidler, and Betty Damico, recall visiting Aunt Martha and Uncle Fenton in Crest Haven Nursing Home, just prior to Aunt Martha's passing. Although she was failing physically, her memory was still very keen. She lovingly showed us photographs of her daughter Ruth, and her husband and children.
Aunt Martha never forgot her brother John's family , and often kept in touch with them through letters. She thoughtfully supplied a large amount of data on the Fidler family to us, and thus helped to make it so much easier to compile our family history.

Ruth Streaser attended Glassboro State Teachers College and taught kindergarten,for a year, at the Haleyville School. Her kindergarten class was a real challenge. She told about many interesting incedents where her young students ,taught the teacher a thing or two Ruth was an avid reader and her and Dave use to see who could finish their book first. She loved the organ and learned to play along with her Musician Husband, The family enjoyed many impromptu jam sessions.
Ruth should have been an architect ,as she and Dave remodelled many homes making them much more attractive than they were originally. Ruth had a keen eye for interior design and furnished her home with many interesting antiques. Her job as a homemaker was very important to her and she often entertained Dave's friends and family with care and thoughtfulness.

He was Captain of the Log Boat the W.E. ,located out of Greenwich, New Jersey & Virginia for several years. He was also a Captain and cook on Norman Jeffreys' boat. He worked hauling logs for Collins Brothers in Cape May, New Jersey. He also worked at the Martin Dye Company in Bridgeton.
He was an outdoors' man and hunter of extraordinary instincts, which was apparent in an early article in the Philadelphia Inquirer for the year 1937, that shows his hunting ability. Daddy kept us
all entertained with his stories about his fox hunting trips, and about his fox hounds which he had for many years. His stories came alive as he imitated the noises his dogs would make as they picked up the scent of the prey
We remember how he took such loving care of his guns, and would clean and polish them until they shone brightly.
