Mrs. Milburn was a Pioneer and Early Teacher here, Mrs. Pete Milburn, born Faye Gillum, died unexpectedly Wednesday night in the hospital in Syracuse where she had been a patient three days. She was buried Saturday at Richfield after services in the Richfield Methodist church. Mrs. Milburn of Rolla, underwent surgery in Syracuse a year ago. In March she broke her hip and onlly recently was able to walk with out crutches. She recently was ill with flu and went to the hospital where her condition apparently was improving until Wednesday. She would have been 74 years old in August. a daughter of the C.A. Gillums she came to a homestead in northwest Stanton county in 1888, from Indiana. She was married 53 years ago to Mr. Milburn and they homesteaded in Morton county nd Rolla has been their home for many years. She was an early school teacher as a young woman. She is survived by Mr. Milburn, three sons, Elver, Earl and Tom of Rolla, three daughters, Mrs. Emma Stoner of Stratton, CO, and Alma Morgan and Grace Drew of Rolla, a brother, Judge M.L. Gillum of Johnson, and 17 grandschildren and 20 great grandchildren.

She was buried on 13. Jun. 1959 at Richfield Cemetery, Morton County, Kansas.

Born Feb. 18, 1922, in Stanton County, Kan., he was the son of the late Morris Leland and Bertha Thrush Gillum, and a graduate of a Bible college in Colorado Springs, Colo.

He married Lois Aleta Sheldon on Dec. 23, 1943, and she survives.

Mr. Gillum had been a security guard at National Homes in Lafayette for 33 years, retiring in 1987. He also was a church pastor for seven years in Kansas and taught three years at the former Pilgrim Holiness College in Frankfort.

He was a member of First Wesleyan Church and taught Sunday school for several years.

Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Yvonn Hale of Frankfort, Alice Wilson (husband: Walter) of Muncie and Evelyn Whipple of West Lafayette; a son, Vernon Gillum (wife: Rebecca) of Frankfort; and two sisters, Alice Kephart of Florida and Eva Jellison of Oregon.

Calling 4-8 p.m. Monday at Genda Funeral Home, Frankfort. Service 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2006, at First Wesleyan Church, Pastor Micah Hudson and the Rev. Ernest Batman officiating. Interment Green Lawn Cemetery. Surviving are 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by 2 brothers. Memorials: Gideon's.
