Stephen Smith II was born in December 1726 at Chatham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. He was baptized on 18 December 1726 at Chatham Church, Chatham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. He was the son of
Deacon Stephen Smith and
Hannah Collins. Stephen Smith II married
Mehitable Eldridge, daughter of
Nathaniel Eldredge and
Sarah Conant, circa 1746 at Chatham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. Stephen Smith II removed to at Liverpool, Queens County, Nova Scotia, Canada, in 1759. On 1 July 1760 one of the four men who were allowed the privledge of the stream running through Liverpool where a grist mill was erected.
He was one of the first Deacons of the Congregational Church at Liverpool. He Seperated for this church and helped to establish what was called the New Light Church. He was vessell owner and engged in coastal sailing. His Shallop was robbed by privateers in September 1782 at Liverpool, Queens County, Nova Scotia, Canada. He left a will on 4 September 1807 at Queens County, Nova Scotia.
