To all Christian people to whom the present writing shall come James Hance Dye of the County of Richmond in the province of New york yeoman send greetings in our Lord God eaver lasting whearas Robert Rider of the Citie of new yorke Senr did in & by his certaen writing or deed given under his hand & sealed the sixth day of Septmber one thousand six hundred & eight & six & in the second year of the reyn of our Souvring Lord James the second grant, bargain & sell to the said anthony fountain of staten island on the county aforesaid yeoman his heirs & assigns a certain part or parcell of land & meado lying & being up on Staten island at the head of the fresh kills survaid & lait out for Robert Ryder begining att the east side of M--- Reedey Course in the meadow att the land at James hubard and storhis by the under side south just twenty six degrees xxx one hundred seven ty four roods & four thxxx by the land of peter bubeloue south east sixteen degrees sixteen xxx by three hundred and twelve rood & from there north west three & xxxx hundred & eight westerly two hundred & ten rood containfin three hundred and twenty acres with thirty four acres of meadow fronting in two lands to the west most xxx xxx Now know you that the said vincent fountaine heir and executor of the aforesaid anthony fountaine late deceased for and in consideration of the sum of twenty four pounds urrent money of this province to him in hand paid or caused to be paid by james hance die of this county aforesaid laborer the xxx of the said vincent fountain on 5 May 1697. Tho: Coone on 22 May 1700. Vincent Fountaine left a will on 4 January 1731/32 at Richmond County, New York.
In the name of God, Amen, January 4, 1731/32. I, Vincent Fountaine, Sr., of the County of Richmond, Gent., being in good health. I leave to my son Vincent, 150 acres of land and meadow in Middlesex County, New Jersey. It being 1/2 of a tract of land of 300 acres. The other half have given by deed to my daughter Anne and her husband Henry Perine. I leave to my youngest son Anthony, all my farm or plantation where I now live, in the south quarter of the County of Richmond, with all appurtenances. And he is to pay to my grandson Anthony, the son of my son Vincent L80. If he dies, then to the other children of my son Vincent. And my sons are to pay to daughter Anne Perine L10. "It is my will that my much honored mother, Sarah Dye, shall be decently maintained, and sufficiently provided for, out of my estate, and to be thnded attendance as her feeble and old age shall require." I leave to my wife Anne certain slaves, and the use of property during widowhood. I make my wife and my sons, and "my beloved friend and nephew, Stephen Marteneau. "
