He resided in Brooklyn and on May 26, 1719 he married in the Dutch Church in Flatbush, Altje Luyster who was born there about 1695, a daughter of Cornelius Pieterse and Sarah Catharina (Nevius) Luyster (HSYB:1898, p99 Nevius Gen, 1900, p593). Joris Covenhoven was born circa 1695 at Flatlands, Kings County, New York. He was the son of Gerret Willemse Van Kouwenhoven and Aeltje (Unknown). Joris Covenhoven married Altje Cornelisz Luyster, daughter of Cornelis Pieterse Luyster and Sarah Catharina Nevius, on 26 May 1719 at Dutch Reformed Church, Flatbush, Kings County, New York. Joris Covenhoven died on 6 May 1757 at Hunterdon County, New Jersey.
