He was thrown from his carriage and badly hurt. Sent home for his will, but it could not be found.

He died on 23 June 1785 at Concord, Chester County, Pennsylvania, at age 71. He was buried at Delaware, Pennsylvania. His estate was proved on 2 July 1785. This stampless letter has a circular date stamp for PHIL [Philadelphia], but since the right side of the letter is torn off and missing, there’s no postal rate to see. It is addressed to Jane Peir[ce], to the care of Thomas Maule, Richmond, Virgin[ia]. and is a lengthy two page letter written by ‘Thy Husband’ Caleb Peirce. Luckily, all the writing is on the side of the sheet opposite the front cover. The headline is Philadelphia, 6 month 4th, 1815, First day evening. This is Quaker style dating, of course.

”Abigail has got a sore eye that is a little troublesome to her but she goes to school. Thy Caleb has had a little cold he now sends his love to thee, as heretofore the children writes with him therein.”. Caleb Peirce Jr. died on 9 September 1853 at age 89.
