In the name of God, Amen. I, John Van Arsedale, of Jamaica, in Queens County, being by the abundant, gracious mercy of God, in perfect health of body. All debts and funeral charges are to be paid out of my personal property. My beloved wife Lamitie shall have the use and profit of all my dwelling house, lands, tenements, and meadows which I now possess during the time she continues my widow. But if she had rather, I order that she shall have paid her 15 pounds a year during her life. If she accepts the same, then all my real and personal estate is to be divided among my three children, as follows: to my son Uriah 150 pounds, and the rest to all my childen, viz., Simon, Nicholas, Urah, Christophel, Cornelius, Ida, Peternella, Maria, Heletie, John, and Sarah. My executors are to sell estate unless my children can agree to divide the same. I leave to my sons my wearing apparell, and I make them executors.
