On 31 August 1668 He leased a farm from Jan Archer at Fordham just north of New Amsterdam.
Laurents Ackerman resided at at Bergen, Hudson County, New Jersey, in 1669. He joined the Dutch Reformed Church in Bergen, NJ 2 April 1679. He married Geertje Egberts on 3 August 1679 at Dutch Reformed Church, Bergen, Hudson County, New Jersey. Laurents Ackerman a large tract of land in Bergen County, NJ starting near Little Ferry extending from the Hackensack River to the Saddle River. The old homestead was at Polifly, near what is now called Woodbridge, NJ a little east of the main road, and under the brow of the hill. This property was bought from John Berry, for seventy-five pounds current money of the Province of East New Jersey, royalties excepted, with an annual payment of nineteen shillings for ever, on the 25th day of March of each and evry year, as quit claim rent, current money of this Province.

The boundaries as follows: "lying and being between the Hackensack and Saddle Rivers, now in the possession of said Lawrence Ackerman containing in breadth upon sad Hackensack River nine chains and sixty links to run from thence alont the bounds of Garret Van Dien on a West Northwest course until it comes over the fresh meadows on the Northern side thereof and from thence Northwest unto the Saddle River along th bounds of said Garret Van Dien and from the said bounds to run seventeed chains in a straight line along Saddle River on a Southwest course on a straight line unto the bounds of Abraham Ackerman the same to run the breadth aforesaid in a Southeast course unto the Northwest side of the aforesaid fresh meadows and fron thence East Southeast all along between the bounds of Garret Van Dien and Abraham Ackerman unto the River Hackensack, except where the same butts and comes to the bounds of David Provost and Harmon Bras where the said Lawrence Ackerman's bounds is to end for their breadth containing in all of upland meadow two hundred and ninety-five acres English measure." On 10 March 1689. He died before 3 May 1707.
